I've read that the 500 version sounds identical to the rack -- I have zero idea if this is true though... Yeah I’ve also heard they should be really close. Have heard some a/b on those two and from that it seem you can get them really close. But its always hard to be sure before you sit with both of them side by side yourself to hear the nuance's. They do have a somewhat different setup tube wise, 2x6N1P-EW, 6N2P-EW, 6AQ5 in the rack vs the 500 series ECC802, ECC803. Transformers should be the same. That's a significant difference in tube-complement. Although I've read that they both sound nearly-identical, I can't help but wonder what the sonic differences are. Thanks for the info!!! Aldo, looking at the tube-core, I think it uses the same set of tubes as the rack-mount One LA. |
