stam I received an invoice to pay the balance on my SA4000 MKII on Feb 25th, which I promptly paid the same day. I was told it would ship within 15 business days. On March 18th, I sent an email asking about the unit, as it still had not shipped. I was told it was in the QC stage. Here we are almost two months later. If my unit was indeed in the QC stage, how long does QC take? If not, was I told a lie? It has to be one or the other, right? All of this happened pre-quarantine FYI. Not angry, just asking. Please email info@stamaudio.com (Sori) There is a big que to be QC’d with what is going on but I am sure it will leave shortly

No offense, Quint, but that is unwarranted. We all have a right to our opinions.
I completely get people’s frustrations but there are really only 3 options: hold, fold or just don’t order, if you don’t want the uncertainty.
I think Josh has made some progress, continuing to increase quality , diversifying his product lines and growing the business, but there is still More that needs to be done on stating realistic production dates, shipping late products/clearing backlog and ensuring parts’ supply.
Some have said before, perhaps Josh should just take a new orders hiatus and pump out his late products to just get this fixed?
I like to think/hope, we all friends here now, I think best to keep this focussed on encouraging Josh to keep pulling up his production socks ??

I would have to think as well but apparently that is not the case.
Most people that cancel a spot on a batch are good at heart and understand that even if you have let them down or couldn't deliver in time as promised (more than once) you did not act with bad intentions. They will email me, request a refund and wish me the best in a civil manner. A lot of the times they return when something is ready to ship and appreciate the hand made quality and effort we put into each piece. Others get angry (rightfully so) and get a refund but go minding their own business.
But then there are a few exceptions of some that are not satisfied with a refund or having a go at you and will go out of their way to badmouth your name and constantly chase you. There are 3 or 4 guys on this very forum. You'll notice the same guys systematically liking every comment against Stam. It's pretty much an obsession by this stage. When somebody leaves a beautiful review or is happy with our work and they share it on here they magically disappear or are never happy for that user they claim to be looking after. I will honestly never understand this. I like most people have had bad experiences with small business owners and I would never do something to hurt them or their business but we are all different.
So instead of feeding this troll-like behavior the best I can do is make good work and try to speed up deliveries for those who are waiting. That is why I hadn't been around for a while on here and is probably the smartest thing to do. We are blessed with people all over the world wanting a piece of Stam and my time is best spent soldering a unit and assembling a microphone rather than fighting a battle that can't be won.
For the record I spoke with Quint on the phone yesterday and he is a top guy. I will send him samples today. I was not speaking about him.
Finally, I don't believe has a conflict of interest. He has been critic of me at times, we just get along well as I do with most of guys here.
You enjoy your weekend guys. I will spend mine with the iron xD!

Hey stam, I didn't have any ill intention with my last post. I realize it may have come across harsher than I meant. To be clear, I support you and I'm rooting for you to be successful. As proof, I have over $16k worth of Stam gear either in my racks or on pre-order.
I have to admit, the quarantine situation makes me very nervous. I follow you on social media and have seen you post that it takes you three days to make a single ADF compressor, and it's been just you in the shop right now. That pace doesn't seem sustainable given the magnitude of back orders you must be facing.
That said, I am a compassionate and understanding person, so I'm not trying to add another critical voice to the fray. I totally understand that this situation is beyond your control, and you are just doing the best you can. I get it. I am rooting for you. Though, to be fair, the delay in shipping the 4K comp was before the quarantine situation, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
I will PM you my email address. Thanks Josh! Keep up the hard work. I hope your family makes a full recovery.

To be clear, this is a Martin thing, not a Stam/Josh thing. My issue with Martin is his continued attempts to come into Stam threads and tell people how to behave. When he stops that, we're good. On a positive note, I spoke with Josh on the phone yesterday. I think we made some headway and he was a nice person to talk to on the phone. It sounds like I will be getting my pair of ADGs soon. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the phone call Josh. I appreciate it.

Hmm, I have always found Martin to be straightforward and reasonably diplomatic.
In terms of his moving on comment, I just understood him to be being pragmatic, not actually directive.
I guess this whole thing gets old when anybody can request a refund or, whether they agree or not, know that the gear shows up when it shows up.
Sure hope you get your adgs soon !

“Conflict of interest” - i wonder if i do or will have a conflict of interest. I too have paid for many pieces of Stam gear over the years but the last Sa87 i bought with the Bg67 capsule did not sound like my vintage or modern u87’s in ether omni or cardoid pattern. So instead of bugging Stam about it i just made some enquiries with the capsule manufacturer to gain more info. It seemed an easier task to just sell the mic as is and move on. Which is what i did. But Stam contacted me and offered my a “no strings attachthed” free to keep SA87 to compare it with my others. So this offer was made some months ago before COVID19 with no mic appearing as of yet. If and when do I fall into this zone of “conflict of interest” with Stam gear?

Facetiousness aside, I am only concerned if someone starts filtering what they say or don’t honestly review or comment on the product ?

So I was asked to verify my shipping address today and Josh sent me a pic of my two units earlier this week. I guess they will be going out tomorrow? THIS is why I didn't "move on". I'm looking forward to trying them out. The wait was not fun, but I've had some good phone conversations with Josh in the last week and the time has finally come to receive them. I think these are gonna be great units. Thanks Josh.

These are adg or adfs? Nice ! They are ADFs. I was gonna get the ADGs for the longest time but, after some phone conversations with Josh, I ended up going with the ADF. Not that the ADF face plate was ever even close to a primary reason for picking the ADF over the ADG, but the ADF face plate sure does look sharp. I got my tracking number about an hour ago.

Happy to report that my 76ADG finally arrived. While the wait wasn't the best, I am glad I stuck with my gut. Stam's business gets in over its head, but man- does it deliver. This is a solid, beautiful compressor, with quality components. Looking forward to getting it into my studio to take a listen, tonight!
On a side note- does anyone know how the push/pull attack button affects the overall speed? Been a while since that feature was announced....I suppose I'll find out soon enough.
Hopefully, you all start to see your units showing up.

I feel so embarrassed that it took me so long to figure this one out and that I made you wait this long I hope it gives you great joy for many days to come and that it makes up for all the delays, I did the best I could. Thank you for your infinite patience with my work J

I just got an email asking if I’m interested in paying extra to upgrade a couple transformers in mine, so I guess after two years mine is getting close! Me2. It will be so much fun to tweak around ADG when it arrives. When I ordered it, I understood that it would take a long time for delivery, when I read the forum two years ago. So I almost forgot it and was pleasantly surprised when I received the email regarding the upgrade and the August delivery. Has anyone had Cinemag / Altran and then switched to Sowter 1327? Is there such a big difference then? Thinking about hooking on that upgrade to Sowter 1327! KR H.Hansson

Every time I see these Stam threads it just bums me out. I wasn't one of the lucky ones who actually got what they paid for. I essentially ended up giving them a two year interest free loan. Actually it was worse than that. My refund was $15 short. Potential buyers beware!
