you don’t need the high dollar gear for a great drum sound! And you don't need a Rolls Royce to get to work.... But it sure makes you smile. Until you right the checks for the payments and insurance, but a used AMG c32 will put a bigger smile on your face as you pass those mustangs and basic 911’s for a lot less and brings a lot less bad attention 😎

Maybe someone should start a separate thread for the business conversation. It's interesting. Does anyone think it's imperative to spend time tracking in a very high end room to have some kind of sonic benchmark in your head? I'm lucky to be in a professionally designed room built in 1978, but I imagine the design is a little different than modern room. The gear I've been able to acquire is pretty much mid-level too.. Care to show some pics? I'm in a room from the late 70s early 80s too. https://www.instagram.com/p/BRB2PUuhUvN

Expectations?
No chinese mics. No rebranded chinese mics. No OEM chinese mics with USA manufacturers names on them. They might be fun to mess around with and feel like you're getting something over on The Man, but they just don't hold up if I'm paying top dollar for a room rental.
I expect: Some german condensers and dynamics, stuff with U, MD and KM prefixes. Some american ribbons and dynamics, stuff with R and SM as prefixes.
