I am sorta thinking if the STAM 47 don't work out for me, Flea might be next on the cards Cheers Wiz I've got my fingers crossed for the Stam. I've read somewhere that Danny B's capsule was being compared to a Thiersch in terms of quality and then there's the AMI BV08 (does he mean BV8? I don't see a BV08 on Tabs website). Those should be some fairly quality parts, no Chinese mass production in the audio path. Isn’t Stam using Eric Heiserman capsules?

Joshua posted earlier in another thread," we ended up going with Dany´s D7 capsule, NOS Telefunken EF800 tube and the AMI BV8 output transformer."

If FleA ever makes a 67 I’m In trouble. Agreed! Anyone know why they’ve not done so?

Stan told me he was having trouble getting quantity from Eric Heiserman.

Anyone used Bocks 47/407? Yes. Used it when it came out (407) & thought it, & the Horch RM2j, were much closer to what we'd "expect" of the "47 sound". Both were much more impressive than the FleA's (47 & 49) we had here for months.

Personally I think anyone buying a clone and expecting the real sound of a U47 is kidding themselves. That said, the Flea is my preference. The reason is it has the softest most relaxed 7k region which makes it sound more like a U47 in the mix to me. Whereas the 2-4k is more forward than a real U47 and there is less in the low mids, so the mic placement is pretty different, but I think that's less of an issue than a too sizzly 7k. Flea qualities easily heard in this example as Mic 2 www.gearslutz.com/board/high-end/1124560-chandler-redd-microphone-12.htmlThe Bock I think nails the low mids but is perhaps slightly bigger on the bottom and definitely the high mids are a bit too forward/resonant/pinched to my taste, much like their 251. Also the Bock doesn't have omni pattern which is a big minus for me as that can sound a lot better on females. Mic D here, listen to "slack: The Horch has a big bottom but is more modern than the Bock in low mids, impressive mic, doesn't really sound that much like the 47 here. www.gearslutz.com/board/gear-shoot-outs-sound-file-comparisons-audio-tests/506749-horch-rm2j-neumann-m49-neumann-m47.html
