I downloaded the demo to ezd2 a few minutes ago. Is there a way to seperate the individual tracks, or does that require sd2? Look at the mixer page and you will see the outs below the instruments. Change that to whatever you want. What daw are you using? You can also break them out separately like that and then use the bounce function which is cool. Although maybe that's just in SD2.

Those drums do sound a little more real than some of the other sets I have. Obviously the room is more alive and they're tuned to sustain. Maybe next time they have a sale I'll grab it. Toontracks is long overdue to update Superior Drummer2. EZ Drummer has that ability to search out beats for you, which would make my tracks better instantly. Sometimes I get so bored scrolling through twenty beats to find one. Hearing the closest beat to what I want, and then the next closest alternatives is brilliant. I've written to them, and they said they don't discuss future updates. I think it's a drag that I'd have to buy EZ Drummer to get that feature when I already have Superior Drummer. I have a copy I dont use... Look into how I transfer it to you.. do the leg work and its yours. cheers Wiz Hey Wiz, if MJB doesn't bite, I might.

I have BFD 2 and 3, komplete drums and EZ Drummer is the only one I use. It is a little strange, but I can tweak its brain to spit out a good drum performance. Sometimes I drag to the midi track in the daw and tweak a section, but using the tap to find and adjusting the hits controls it usually sounds better than any drum programming this guitar player can do. I have a few addon on kits, prefer the stock one 99% of the time. I usually use a few Slate trigger samples blended in.

I've got Slate, EZ2, SD2, multiple NI drums, Addictive Drums and others...Usually end up using EZ/SD2.

This doesn't really seem like the sort of thing Albini would do. What's next, the Fugazi/Dischord sample pack? #straighttalk This seems like anti-Albini. Is this a sign that the music industry truely has crashed and even this guy sold out mow. Bad month playing cards ? Rent due ?

Not sure why doing lucrative audio engineering jobs is "selling out" for an audio engineer, but.... I guess this just has to do with my perception of the guy. He comes across as this anti-corporate, indie promoting, raw production techniques engineer, but is willing to put on his suit and tie and record some stuff when "the man" comes knocking with a fat paycheck. Anti-establishment Albini is recording drums to be triggered by midi notes by a guy using his fingers on a pad. I'm not knocking the guy for taking the gig, we'd all love to grab a gig like that. It's just surprising to me that a champion of the indie bands is doing this corporate type gig that doesn't seem his style.

I'm a huge fan. I use their Nashville black beauty snare all the time. Ezd2 is so easy to use.i drop midi in from my old favorite drumsite i bought 15 years ago.
I want that 70's kit,and this one looks awesome

The moment you make $$ you sold out. I know back in the day he was (and probably still is) proud that he takes minimal payment and no royalties for recordings. He shared the Nirvana contract with the world, you can probably find it in the googler. Good for him if he made a lucrative deal with Toontrack. Now if he stops wearing the Dickies onesie, that would not be acceptable.. SELL OUT!

I just got EZ Drummer installed, thanks to Wiz. Now I have to learn how to go about choosing a pattern and then asking EZ to find similar patterns automatically. It does do that, right? Or is that only for when you create a pattern.
Doesn't it have a "create a pattern" feature where you program a simple beat, and then it looks up the most similar midi files for you?
On first listen, EZ Drummer sounds Lo-Fi compared to Superior Drummer, am I imagining things?
I'll be reading the manual later tonight or tomorrow.

I don't even know what toontrack is, but damn that's some terrible naming.
It makes me think of cartoon, like it's a distant facsimile of reality.

Could be really useful to you as a studio owner though. Already you're probably having to quantize and replace hits when recording sloppy drummers ( no offence to drummers, but not many are accurate enough to play to a click ). You probably also have bands asking for a certain snare sound "like so and so". Get them to track on an electronic kit, recording the midi data, then the world of sounds is at your fingertips via programmes like toontrack. Plus you've still got the "real" drummer playing. Gives loads of options. I know more drummers than guitarists, and the majority have an electronic kit as well as acoustics.

Thanks m03, much appreciated. I'll have some time to get into it later this evening.
*took a look, and that video was very helpful. I didn't have a lot of time to play with it though. In the video, he creates a simple beat easily, but when I tried, there was a significant delay between the metronome click and my hits on the drums. Of course it gets corrected, but it was way off, and a little difficult because it was unnatural when I was trying to make a good beat.
I wish I could get rid of the click when making beats.
