This is always so hard. This orange tabby was a freak of nature in his younger days, muscular and intrepid. He would run across the property like a cheetah on discovery channel with back paws all the way up to his ears and front paws under his tail.
He would come in for tv each night for some months now. I'm really going to miss that.
Heart goes out to you guys who know how difficult this is.

I am just in doubt if sleeping forever is a bad idea. For sure all your worries are gone.....the forever ongoing peace. Or as a friend said... back to reset, he had to leave at the age of 24.
I hope your friend had a good life.
RIP Amen.

Really sorry to hear that. My 3 legged cat is dying of cancer now, and he's starting to get to the point where everyday I wake up wondering if today will be the day he's either suffering or already dead
I feel guilty for wanting to hold on as long as possible, even though he's not in any pain right now.

Heartbreaking when you have to say goodbye. Everytime I say "never again". My wife's friend works for an animal rescue place so guess what......?

Sorry for your loss. I think about this every day with my 9 year old dog. The older he gets, the more he wants to spend every moment with us.

Post a pic of your buddy. Here's Bailey with a baby shirt on because he kept scratching at a spot and I needed to keep him from doing it:

Here is my buddy, Sloan. I am not the biggest fan of this picture because it was taken a few days ago, and he doesn't quite look himself, but it's what I have handy right now. I recently lost all my pictures from my phone and I'm trying to recover the corrupt files. He wasn't much of a lap cat, but I put him up there for TV time since he was so ill. I knew something was wrong when he quit gnawing on my fingers when I pet him. He was very strong, fast and alert his whole life. He slowed down to a crawl in a few months time. drive.google.com/open?id=0B95EjHcxPRxoLVFiUEdZMnZoWTQ

Yes, it is tough when you see them entering those twilight years. I am lucky as we saw this coming though it was fast, we got to love on him a lot in the past 3 weeks.

Sorry brother! Hard to see them go, I recently rescued a black lab at the beginning of December... he's a gem, though it's heartbreaking to think about the inevitable; we've all been there.... there's no replacing of course, but perhaps when you're ready, maybe a trip to an animal shelter for a new buddy will do the trick?

Labs are so much fun. I hope you, and John and everyone else for that matter, have great years ahead with your buddies. I may take a trip when I'm ready and see who might follow me home. Sloan was born here a stray. Maybe one will show up...

This was Bailey's last picture before the vets came to my house to put him to sleep. The cancer can't eat you up anymore my old friend.
