I'm interested in these and thought we might as well start a conversation and share with the gang.

Cowboy, I have them for about a month now.
Absolutely dig them. When I was on the search for new monitors I looked at the Focal Solos, Focal Cm65's and Adams and one or two others. The Neumann's just blew them away.
Felt it was money worth spend. Just feels like a mix comes together much quicker on these.
Just my 2 cents of course

Thanks lolo. Got a pair coming to try. I understand they are very flat. I look forward to hearing them.

Yes they are very flat. Shows problems quickly. Thats what makes them so great to mix on.

I also really like these. Make my Adams sound hyped. I also really like the genelec 8040. Am considering grabbing a pair of the little CMS40s but I have to hear them first.

I'd say also check the JBL LSR4238P. I chose them over the 120s although it was tough.

hmm. I found mine to be UN-hyped from just about any other monitors I've used.. And even then I turned down the highs so I mix a little more highs into the mix..
I do have a ton of sound control in the control room though, it's totally possible that I've deadened it too much.

Thanks for asking Mr. Coalminer! Yes, I am still LOVING my 120a's. They are serving me very very well. I trust them and mixes on them translate incredibly well to mastering houses and the final product.
I wouldn't say I'm a total fanboy preaching the KH120 gospel, but I'm definitely recommending them hither, thither and yon.

Should have mine here tomorrow. I'll post my first impression. Hopefully they wont sound that good. That's usually a good sign

Monitors are very subjective...When you find some that float your boat, stick with them.

really knowing what your using is super important, i have mackie hr 824's right now, i've had them since 2000, i know these things like the back of my hand, that being said, i've never been overly impressed with them, they sound fine, but now i'm making a new move on monitors, some proAc knocks with some switchable subs are next for me, we'll see how it goes, i have a lot to learn come the new year.
Curious to see what cowboy thinks of these also, you guys generally really like them so far, thats a good sign.

Yep. They suck. Nasty sounding like an NS-10. I liken this experience to having the same wife for 20 years (which I have). Can't imagine trying to get used to a new one. But I'm gonna try a few mixes on them and see what happens.

Give them some time to break-in before passing final judgement. If there's anything that requires some break-in time, it's speakers.

When it comes to monitors, nasty is good... up to the point of ear fatigue. That, is not good.

How are these working out for you Cowboy?

I'm still curious too. The Neumann's would be a much better fit on my small and crowded desktop, so if I thought I could do better work on them, I'd switch from my Adam A7X's. The Adams' are good, I'm stuck in a corner though, so it's not their fault it's boomy. I just dialed back the bass one notch, and it seems to help. It's a temporary fix, but that's OK for a while.

See, I don't like having nasty sounding monitors...I can't stand not EVER being able to get a mix to the point that I'm satisfied.

At AES, JBL had some beautiful looking new monitors on display. I didn't have time to try them, but perhaps you should take a look cowboy, since you know the brand's sound well. They had the right vibe.

JBLs can't be argued with, neither can UREI 813s and 815s. A lot of great albums were made listening to those for tracking and mixing in years gone by and those albums still hold up today!
