Although I know he's using the Convert 2 and 2 Bus + now...but he is dead on about the D-Box. Really changed my stuff for the better.

I'm now using an almost entirly Dangerous rig for mixing. 16 channels of Convert 8 , 2Bus+, Apogee Trak2 front end (for now:-), Convert 2 for my main output D/A and a Monitor ST. Very, very powerful!

Experience goes on and now I think some real gear in the game, front or backend, can be a big help. Depending on the material digital saturation mud dirt can sound annoying to the ears.

I've been Gassing for either a Dbox+ or the burl vancover but I've only seen Vidio on both no real life experience with them . They both have some nice features I'm trying to find some way to hear both before buying hmmmmmm. Maybe worth paying shipping to demo

I'm a believer. Just upgraded my Apollo 8 Quad I bought in November to a new Apollo 16 and while I was at, it after reading John's first post a while back on his experience with the D-Box, added the D-Box and the 2 Bus+. Even my wife asked what I did different on a mix I've been working on over the past couple of weeks because the difference was so noticeable. Now just waiting for the Fedex truck to show up today with my matched stereo pair of Retro Powerstrips so I can try those in the switchable analog inserts in the 2 bus+. Haven't tried linking the Apollo 8 and 16 for 24 track summing since I rarely have that many tracks, so will probably end up selling the 8, but nice to know the capability is there for linking both the Apollos and the D-Box and 2 Bus+. Since I don't do this for my living and don't get to spend as much time as I like recording, I was also very pleased in how easy and intuitive is was to get everything set up and routed so I could be mixing and taking advantage of all the features very quickly.

Probably even more colored in a euphonic way...kind of different philosophies..but the D-box is SO much bang for the buck. The DA is fantastic - I could have been suckered into buying it JUST for the DA...but then you get the summing...and I don't even use the monitor switcher, talkback and HP outs because I use a Hearback system.

Since I don't get to mix full time my skills are not where I would like them to be so the D-Box and 2 Bus+ are kind of like training wheels for me and make my mixes better with less plugins. The Harmonics, Paralimit, and X-former features on the 2 Bus+ are also very cool to work with.

For the few that I work with that actually bother me with recalls, I ordered a A Dangerous 2 Bus+ a while ago. It should be here tomorrow. (as they have been back ordered for a while)
My plan is to use it along with my original Apollo 16 convertor (Black Lion modded) into my second batch of 16 Helios type 69's feeding the 2 Bus+ inputs Then mix out of the 2 Bus+ thru my ADL 670, or whatever the hell works for the damn song. Who knows. I own 46 compressors. One of them should do the trick on a mix, ya think?
It never ends. Will keep ya posted.......

Oh you dirty, dirty dog. [mouth watering emoji here]
Please do report back
Btw, since the Helios don't have an output transformer, (right?) do they add as much color?

jcoutu1, I love the Meeks on acoustic & electric guitar buss. Actually purchased the second unit while mixing DonR's (B O C) record. We both loved the sound of the thing. Also background vocals, and I gotta tell ya, if you're going for the old school thick and gooey 60's drum sound it really rocks on a drum buss! Great color piece.
Ericn more to come buddy! When I moved out of my old building into this small one room set up, I had to sell some stuff simply due to lack of space. Here's the short list of comp / limiters that I sold just before moving. Off the top of my head... what went:
1 x TLA stereo Tube Comp 3 x ADL 1000 Tube Limiters 2 x Empirical Labs EL-8 Distressors 8 x Daking 91579 Limiters 10 x Valley People Gain Brains 1 x Summit Audio TL-200 Stereo Tube Limiter 3 x Altec 5179 Limiters 2 x Altec 436C Tube Limiters 1 x Drawmer 1960 Stereo Tube Limiter
I'm sure there were a few more that I've forgotten about..
As you can see I love compression / limiting, as flavors, even more then Equalizers.

I was only slightly disappointed it didn't make everything sound like "Telstar."

I do have to say and I seldom have ever recommended something I heard on the show floor but I kept coming back and wanting that New Chandler Abby Road Comp ! As much as I tried couldn't make that thing sound bad!
