I had to sneak out of work early to set this up and run a few things through it. The Bricasti is for real. Even my wife thought it was pretty amazing.

I picked up a Radial Tonebone Trimode, used once and for half price. It is a very nice little 12ax7 valve box, responsive to velocity and pick attack and very tweakable with an insert of the lead channel. The mid boost is is variable and can be set differently for both channels giving lots of flexibility in tone. I have an AC15C1 and have been digging it with the early 1989ish big Fenderesque headstock Levinson Blade R4 that is now the main electric guitar that I use, the sweet glimmery clean channel to be peddle free (tone boxes that is, the Strymon BigSky serving space responsibilities, the onboard not my cup of tea), the RTT serving duty on the second channel with little or no gain to allow the new kid on the block box to do what it does.

My latest mic purchase, a Telefunken badged U47 from Puk Studios. Elton John and George Michaels have most likely sung in it. We just needed another picture of this on the thread. What a sexy beast.

Tim, great!
Maybe someone could clone George Michael from the spit inside the cage.

Check out this bad boy. The output transformer is so massive that it barely fits in the case, or into a 500 slot. Five Fish Audio NK-72DI. The front panel, gain knob, switches, feel more flimsy than a CAPI kit, but the price is right, and I absolutely love the sound. Cheaper than the SCA N72, but with more features, although no output control. Vaguely reminds me of what some of the Hairball kits offer, but once again, only about $250-ish for all the parts including the AML transformer order from the UK. The FiveFish store/docs left a few questions unanswered, and the kit had a few small quirks, but this is a really solid DIY option. The DI also sounds quite nice. I'm a sucker for front panel DI's on mic pres. It's sort of a Neve I/O but with a 2520 discrete op amp for gain. I just slapped a Whistle Rock Audio ML2520 in there, but I'd like to try the Eisen BA512.

Hey all— 1st post. I'm zilla_studios at the purple place.
I went to pick up a used Aphex 107 2 chn. mic pre on Craigslist. When I got there the owner had determined that one side was out so he only charged me $20. Changed the pot yesterday and now both sides are working fine. Seems like a decent utility pre for bigger tracking sessions.

Seems like a decent utility pre for bigger tracking sessions. I have SIX of these!! They are absolutely useful for just about everything. They get utility positions for a lot of stuff in my work. During tracking, a lot of guide tracks such as control room vocals, acoustic guitar guide tracks, etc. I once used them on Toms, top and bottom, and was surprised at how effective they were. In context of course, a little dirt in the sound actually works some times. Helps get rid of the boring nature of this pre it has when treated too nicely. A lot of the Aphex is overlooked because it can be had so cheaply. The 651 and 661 are favorites of a lot of guys and Jim Williams on here is well known for modding the stuff. And, welcome aboard!

Wow, I need one of those. Think I'll knock one out DIY style soon. I am most interested in this simple solution for cabs in series, which solves a few problems for me with my amp and cab collection.

No matter what you think of the Exciter , Aphex's broadcast clean useful asthetic always carries through, even on their budget oriented stuff like the 107, the 107 Tubesence, is a damn nice utility pre. The problem is the marketing guys pushed it as a an affordable answer to the Demeter or Manley! It is what it is , not what the hype said it was.

My Ampeg B25 wants a 16ohm load and I have 2 Aguilar cabs that are 8ohms each. This solves the problem for me. For $45, I'd rather just buy the pro piece than try figuring out a DIY solution and worry about screwing up the amp.

But for me that's $5 worth of parts and half an hour's time in the garage. I had no idea this was even possible, though, until I saw this product that you posted. I've got a couple of 8 ohm 2x12 that I would like to make into a 16 ohm, just like your situation.
