If you had a bday coming up what would you want for yourself pro audio related? At the moment... I could really use a Hairball 1176. Every great studio I see has stacks of 2-4, sometimes 6 1176 and I feel like it's time for me to start. Especially since my 500 rack is nearly full now, the 19" racks will be needing to be filled next.

If you had a bday coming up what would you want for yourself pro audio related? Modest budget: Some GIK Impressions panels or something similar. Immodest budget: Retro STA-Level or Locomotive 14B.

m03Def had some gik on my list, thanks π I built all my other treatment and was amazing experience however I would def buy GIK now due to my health... plus I could be making or mixing killer music instead of building panels... Guitar I drool over the hair ball rev A as well as pro replica Rev A revisions and want one to add to my arsenal... I am not skilled into diy enough for me to trust my own build.. And again who knows how long that would take so if I were to order the hairball, I feel having my kit sent to a proper tech to be built would be best... I was thinking about Studio one Pro license as well... Keep em comin guys / gals and thanks for the great ideas so far...

If I had some ready birthday cash I would enjoy the Sebatron VMP4000eVU. I'll be 58 in October, and if you add 5 plus 8 it turns out to be one of my lucky numbers, so one never knows, does one! Just putting it out there.

Chandler redd mic came today. Super excited to listen.
Update 1 *well yes. A thing of beauty. I have a feeling of contentment. It just sounds wonderful.
Completely meaningless, yet cool nonetheless, the serial number is the year I was born '82!
Update2 ab'd with a m269c. The chandler is cheating. I really might start selling some of my other mics and just buy another chandler.

I sold off a few old outboard pieces and recently purchased a Dangerous D box, Smart modified C1 & a DBX 560a compressor.
Going to purchase this week another 560a, Capi 550 type eq and to pay for a long overdue repair of an old memorymoog which hasn't worked in 10 years..

Picked up a couple of pre-Altec 633A mics. I've been wanting one for a while and the opportunity presented itself. This is officially the first time I've ever heard Western Electric referred to as 'pre-Altec'.

This is officially the first time I've ever heard Western Electric referred to as 'pre-Altec'. It's worth noting that Western Electric and Altec are not the only company names that these were branded under, but I hesitate to mention the other names I'm aware of for fear that they'll cease to be the great deal that they currently are.

They were only made by those 2 companies. Many radio jobbers put their own stickers on them, as they also did with Neuman.

Dude! Can't wait to hear more. I am just over the moon with this mic. It is truly a thing of beauty. I am looking to see what mic I want to sell to get another one. Only two small inconsequential issues. 1- the shockmount slides. This is a known issue and they suggested that I add two washers. ... 2- the capsule alignment is off 1.5cm. The capsule faces slightly to the right. I am working with the service dept to find an amendment. I have a feeling I will end up being told to just rotate it slightly myself. I am sending pictures to their service dept and will see what they say. First off I'm glad the mic sounds so glorious! Second I am sorry to hear that you have those issues with the mic. This is me and I am not a skilled mic tech however I would not touch that mic even with a written contract saying you can and won't void warranty...I would send it back immediately and get a new one... A $4500 mic should not have a capsule installed and misaligned.. Also QC with the shock mount is something you would expect with sub $500 dollar mics... What concerns me is they are shipping this mic with a known problem with the shock mount... I understand the sound quality is great however how are you hearing the true representation of the capsule if it is not installed correctly? I sincerely hope you the best with your mic and a positive timely outcome... I really hope Chandler LTD corrects this known shock mount problem and replaces free of charge to all customers affected... I wonder how many others customers capsules are installed incorrectly and the don't know... Never thought Chandler a company to slack on QC and manufacturing/ assembly...

I don't think Chandler is this big suit and tie corporation pumping out pieces of an assembly line. Dudes are hand-making this stuff. I had the power switch go bad on my RS124. I wrote them and explained the situation. Offered to put it in myself and save me some coin on shipping this piece back and forth for a 10 minute fix. No problem! It's just the nature of boutique gear. You'll have this stuff from time to time. I have no doubts that this will get squared away.

It's just the nature of boutique gear. You'll have this stuff from time to time. I have no doubts that this will get squared away. Damn what? Your opinion differs from mine? No big deal, no need for that man π I have no doubt Chandler will make this right, I have always heard them to be a top notch stand up company.. I was giving my opinion and advice... If this was your mic I would write and feel the same.. You deserve better for $4500... I would hate for you, Cortland, myself, or any RGO member to add two washers to their shock mount thinking this is a solution and in turn our mic falls out of the shock mount and damages it further.. Secondly, I am not a mic tech and I would not feel comfortably doing any type of capsule dis-assembly and remounting on a $4500 mic. I should not have to even question the build... If you feel comfortable doing that type of capsule work on the mic that's cool π If you are ok with buying a hand built boutique mic with the capsule misaligned for $4500 that's your money and prerogative, I would still give the advice i did... Third, It's a known problem with the shock mount design however Chandler continues to keep selling this mic with a malfunctioning shock mount..... why not find include a 3 rd party rycote or other until you can ship out the tested re done Chandler designed shock mount... Have a good day

Did not intend for this to be an acquisition week, still waiting for the IRS to cash my tax payment check... But then I saw this lot of speakers on eBay, in my neighborhood, and figured I'd make an offer: They accepted and I drove maybe a mile to load my new PA into the back of the Ford Escape. It was surplus from the university concert hall, lived in one place their whole lives, seven Community RS220s and a DSC42 controller. Today I ran to the local electronics shop to get some parts to wire up their amp rack and stumbled on this in the back corner: A custom Acopian rack power supply with two Gold Box Series A 18V 6.5A units in it, the exact power supply for my Trident Trimix console. It was marked $50 and now it's mine.

Chandler has some of the nicest feeling gear I've used and their service department was stellar to deal with. FWIW.
BAE too.

Yep, I spent some time today cleaning up a pair of 2x15 boxes I had in the tracking room to use as low kickers, should get a pair of RS220s up to side fill height and handle everything under 140Hz. Have a third 2x15 I may clean up for drum sub duty under the extra RS220. Next up is building some 1x18s, I'm thinking three a side under pairs of RS220s would make a nice platform, but i suspect the Communitys will out run them and only need a couple hundred watts to do it!

Didn't get shotguns. I have EV 642 shotguns (academy award winner!), good to put across the room from a loud amp.
