I have a hard time passing up a good deal, if I can get something for $100 (like an electric piano or organ) and it inspires creativity it's money well spent. Or, if it's something I can turn around to pay for something I need/want it's worth the time and effort as well

I'm the proud new daddy of a Lindell PEX-500, LOL!!! congrats, jesse.
I am doing the shootout right now, plugin vs. hardware.
Let's not hold the suspense, the hardware is flat out better than the plugin (also lindell digital model of PEX-500).
This is my first hardware EQ, I bought it exactly to perform this test. I wanted to see if there was any fuss to hardware EQ. I waited too long.
Prognosis is more hardware, ASAP. Jcoutu did some Weight Tank samples for me on a bass clip, and they sounded so saucy and good. Better than what I was getting with plugins. Now I'm getting somewhere in that zone with my DBX 560A feeding the PEX-500. Seems like sort of a classic bass chain. The PEX gives the fatness and the DBX gives the snap.
My 500 rack and my patchbay just got a lot happier. The lindell and the dbx were both also very inexpensive.
Mostly I'm just real happy for you guys out there with great families. Cheers.

Wow, a lot of us have new kids!! Some us even after turning 50. jcoutu1 ragan and me (Ok I'm probably the only 50 year old guy here, since Jesse is 35) May they all turn out to be rock stars, incredible engineers and learn from their own old men how to appreciate gear and find ways to follow the Ferengi laws of acquisition!

Might as well throw mine into the mix. She's just three months old, and her older sister is 4. I am outnumbered.
