But where are those modules now? I needs dem!! Sold the whole thing long ago, for a lot less than they are worth now. Wish I still had them for the studio! Oh my... I have some spare classic modules, but that's it/ Luckily in both convertibles there are slightly different sets of modules. But anyhow, Seymour said he'd help me... hoping he hooks me up with some! (I'd love a brief case full too, but not getting greedy).

Just got myself a Langevin(Manley) Mini Massive EQ.
I put it in the rack and gave it a quick test ... very nice indeed. Just high and low band but very usable as a 2-bus EQ to add that final polish to my mixes. The bell/shelf curves are quite unusual so I guess I'll have to run it in a bit :-)
Tried it on a rock mix, a pop mix, a drum loop and a bass track .. all were immediately better and it took me only a couple of minutes to dial in something nice in each. The separate in/out switches for the high and low band makes it easy to focus on what you are changing in each band.
The air generated by that top 27k shelf is very nice indeed ... should combine nicely with the Silk from my 5060 :-)
Not sure why they stopped making this thing?

Just got myself a Langevin(Manley) Mini Massive EQ. A mastering guy I work with told me that which these do is better than the same in the Massive Passive.

I've always wanted to hear that vac rac and the atomic squeeze box. Nice rack! ASB and TSL3 are both awesome. The Atomic is unreal. Nothing out there like it that I've found. I've had it for 8 or 9 years. TSL3 can be real nice on vocals... lead and BG. Stereo BG Vox sound killer through the TSL3 into an A Designs Hammer EQ. So sweet!

What do you find yourself using the asb for. My guess would be anything since it's so invisible but I always wondered what I would end up liking it on. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess. Correcting dynamic range issues to save performances, squeezing the 2buss, and potentially crushing anything without artifacts... the options really seem endless.

It's compression action is quite transparent, but the tube goodness adds a real nice warmth and slight color. I find myself using on lead vox, guitars, drums and drum buss, mix buss, and it's the best bass comp I've ever used. Just so great. You can really shape with it. Although it's relatively clean - this thing works well on anything. For all around tube compression on any source, it would be my desert island piece.

Love this thread. What's the word for the opposite of "schadenfreude"?
Because I take great delight in the happiness of everyone in their new acquisitions!

Love this thread. What's the word for the opposite of "schadenfreude"? Because I take great delight in the happiness of everyone in their new acquisitions! The thing about this thread is the acquisition of a Cheap Chinese Strat or Neve copy can bring as much joy as the high dollar vintage real deal! It shows that in this world of makeing music we can live vicariously through our freinds and that deal are out there if you have the cash and can bite! It's a great safe space where our inner geek can shine in both self congratulations and appreciation of others!

For me birthday I got an Apollo Twin Duo silver. People are blowing them out replacing them with the black ones. I got it for less than half price. Almost as cheap as a UH-7000! Just in time for UA to announce Apollo Expanded for Windows 10. It all just sort of fell into place. A black Apollo 8 Quad would have been ideal but I couldn't afford it. This also more or less sorts out any mobile interface needs. Just grab the Twin and a couple mics and have at it. Hauling big racks isn't as fun as it used to be. At the end of the month I'm going to have to pick out my favorite Unison preamp for drum tracking, since I will have 6 Apollo preamps at that point. I'm going to try to set up channel strips to get a more finished drum sound right off the bat while tracking. I guess this is how Apollo was intended to be used, but I never got into that workflow for some reason. I think with the drum set it's going to make a big difference. This will also put me up to 34 in 22 out analog balanced I/O so I can start fully utilizing my outboard gear, which is now all patched up drbill I was mentioning this a while ago. But now it's coming to fruition. I want to see what happens if I do a UAD channel strip mix with a bunch of outboard and a few tape sims. Also this gives me a good reason to start shopping for more outboard mixing gear. And some Serpent DIY, etc. Finally! What a long strange trip it's been. Sometimes it feels like running circles.

Ward700. Eh, seemed reasonable for the hand built version. It was an easy decision since that's how much less the new c500 cost.

Deadly. Oh for a time machine to go back and snap up all gear when it is at its lowest (price) point!
(implied use of the irritating term price-point, to piss off those bemused by it)

(implied use of the irritating term price-point, to piss off those bemused by it) When I think about it I kinda feel sick. I have a feeling the truth is somewhere in the middle. You hear stories about 670's in the trash etc. yeah I'm sure that's happened but I also think some people like to exaggerate.
