I'll try to place them away from the other gear then, thanks ! Pierre will probably send you this email but: The POMPYE comes with an external PSU which says : “Keep away from Audio equipment”. This is to insure minimum noise and interference from the mains transformers that could get into the POMPYE audio. The PYE compressor design has 6 inductors and 6 Audio transformers, so that makes it more sensitive to mains transformer field/radiations than modern devices with no coils and no iron in them comparatively. For that reason, I recommend to not install your POMPYE compressor sandwiched in between a big PSU or above big Power Amps in you Rack unit to minimise the risk of picking up hum from other Mains Transformers in other devices…. (Treat it like a high impedance unit, a bit like a Telecaster guitar, a Fender Rhodes or a spring reverb unit to get the best results... Very often the less “polluting" units are the small digital units that usually have a small switch mode PSU in them, not a conventional linear PSU with a big mains transformer inside…) Pretty much everything in my rack has big internal power supplies so I couldn't find a happy place for it...but my racks are pretty stacked

I saw this but had forgotten.
Avedis also make a Pye compressor with the same original logotype than Ted Fletcher's.
The Pynamic in the Api 500 format are loosely inspired by the PWM Pye too.
I'm happy with the Pom order. A new Youtube demo of the Pom Pye was released a month ago. It's worth watching, the sound is surreal.
So good !

After declaring my place a plugin free purchase zone. I caved and bought a whole whack of plugins. PA got me with their $29 deals and I picked up an Ampeg bass amp, and the A/B thingy. I splurged on the Deres resonance hunter at $10, and just picked up the UA Atr102. Am I done? I hope so.
I also updated all my previously purchased UA plugs. What these updates do exactly I have no idea. Anybody know?
Cheers, Geoff

Analog:
01. I bought two Syn2 Synergy Racks and a bunch of Synergy Preamp Modules to audition for a new rig. I've whittled it down to four that suit my needs (I've been Ebaying the ones that didn't make the cut, but really every module I tried was great in its own way). I feel strongly that these little guys can compete with real amps in a mix after spending half a year with them.
02. I've been using a Warm Audio WA 273 with full EQ for most of my tracking in the home studio. Not quite as nice as my old vintage 1066's racked by Brent Avrill I used to own. But honestly, it's really good for the money. I don't want to get into arguments about how authentic things are Vs originals. The lows and highs are very close to vintage units with the TONE button in to me. I believe this changes the impedance? Lastly I like how it was deisgned for routing in a patchbay between LINE and MIC level.
03. I have a stereo-matched pair of CM49's (M49 clones) by Advanced Audio Microphones that do a lot of heavy lifting in the home studio, but I've been really only tracking and mixing my own stuff all year when I'm not working on software for my company.
04. I have an MW1 Studio Tool which I really love for RE-AMPING, but I also use the MOSFET clean boost in it all the time on every guitar track. Sounds incredible.
05. I'm using a 2400 Audio Imperium as my monitor controller. Love it. Simple, easy to use. Great design. Digitally controlled, but all analog.
Digital:
01. It's nothing fancy but the rackmount version of a Line 6 Helix is the "Brain" MIDI controller for my Synergy Modules. I also use it to model microphones and guitar cabinets (I'll do a deeper post on this if anyone's curious). It's been really cool to work this way. Fast. No phasing problems. Sounds huge. And you get real analog distortion from the Synergy Modules.
02. I have a ton of MVP plugins, but Oeksound Soothe 2 and Bloom are my current favorites. I use Soothe 2 on individual vocal tracks usually as an intelligent De-esser, and then Bloom on my Submixes to add back in frequencies that get lost De-essing without sibilience. Really works well.
03. Also I love the Eventide SP2016 Reverb plugin for vocals, and the WAVES Abbey Road Chamber Verb as well and wanted to give them both a shout.

Well as I was searching the net today looking for a deal on a couple of Yamaha AD8HR’s I saw Gotham discounted the last used Sony C535P to $150, so I grabbed it.
Plus Next month the case of Sonys is going out on the road for a short tour that will pay for the last 2, that’s how you buy mics!

Just picked up a second Heritage Audio 73EQ Jr. Really loving these! And with Pro Tools Studio now automatically handling hardware insert delay, I've gotten use from them in tracking AND mixing, which has been great.
Also picked a couple pairs of AT MX-40 headphones for $75 each while Sweetwater was matching (slightly beating) Amazon's Prime Day price. Desperately needed some additional tracking cans, so the timing was perfect.

If you know POM you’ll know his clients are the biggest songwriters and producers ever. His Pye is amazing. Identical but with output attenuation. And lots of space.

I just took delivery of Pairs of BN251 and H251’s plus some Locomotive pre amps to boost my 8 Coils for and some KM184 as my old ones are getting on and I keep picking KM184’s in shootout’s as being warmer and deeper and thinking they are the old ones. I have Schoeps and tube 013’s already so the FOMO is over. I got a beautiful boutique hand wired 2U LA2A, a Phoenix Ascent as I love that ish and a Buzz Diode. Biggest surprise was the Earthworks DM6 which is a monster and replaces 2 mics. The new Moog Labyrinth. Oh and a couple of LS308’s after Ward’s raving. That should keep the Taxman happy. I’m removing obsolete rack gear and adding looms. The control room is crazy I’d get an assistant if I trusted anyone.

Found a nice deal on a Princeton Reverb reissue and it came with a ATA case, which I immediately sold to a friend for an upcoming tour and ordered an Alessandro GA-SC64 speaker for it. The Alessandro speakers are a really great upgrade for Fender amps and not that expensive. It’ll be nice having a smaller Fender around the studio.
Contemplating getting a Mac Mini during tax free weekend here in Tennessee…my laptop works ok but only has a 256GB hard drive and even with just Pro Tools installed, no sample libraries or music or actual sessions on the computer, it is constantly running out of drive space. And I hate having to use hubs to connect the little I have to it

Singular Audio Tubedrive pedal is great.
Probably gonna sell a bunch of pedals because of it. That and the Love Bomb - all the front end boost / sag / drive I need on the front end. Tube distortion really is so much more satisfying, wish it weren’t so.
Also picked up a Soma Cosmos delay looper. Interesting but haven’t truly used it creatively yet, just fucking around for now. I’m glad to see more devices like this and Chase Bliss Habit, Fieldtone, etc. No Pussyfooting was one of my favorite records as a teenager so it’s cool that this kind of looping is getting served now.

Yeah you look at them online and think “ who would pay that much for a mic stand?” Then you unpack it, set it up and think “ why didn’t I do this sooner? It’s worth every penny.”

No way.

Re: pussyfooting...The lads and I used to get down with some Frippery on Friday nights using Akai Head Rush pedals and a Space Echo. I hadn't seen that Soma Cosmos yet...wow! Very well thought out with the additional firmware options, too. In boring purchase news, I acquired some nicer acoustic panels to surround my mixing desk.

Never used one but Don Cab / Battles records and so many bands did cool things with them. I was stuck with my DL4 in those days hah. Yeah I’ve been going through all types of distortions and pedals the past year or so after a decade of like just a Hotcake and Percolator and not much else. The Singular one is basically what I was looking for - very alive sounding.

EDIT: I just remembered seeing Mick Turner and Jim White of the Dirty Three with Will Oldham back around the same time. I'm pretty sure Mick was using a couple (at least) Head Rushes to make that wild stew of sounds. That Marquis de Tren / Bonny Billy record is so underrated!!!
