I have ordered a pair of Chandler Microphone Cassettes- one in stock, the other back-ordered (bah!). It is one sexxxy piece! Besides its obvious use as a preamp, I'll be using them as an insert during mix. The compressor is accessed separately, which opens up the possibilities.
I am addicted to Chandler Limited gear!
Man, do I get this addiction!

Upgraded my patchbays to Bittree ProStudio's which are built like tanks. Reminds me of Burl quality. Looking forward to getting them hooked up.

My year end final tax write offs are a pair of Neumann KH150's and a RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE converter to upgrade my (mostly) in the box mixing rig at home. I went with the 2/4 because I wanted an analog loop for a mix buss chain of a High Voltage Audio EQ-6S, Alan Smart C1, and Overstayer MAS...going to do some A/Bing with pretty much a plug-in version of that chain and see if it's worth the hassle.

I was on a John Williams kick and wanted one to match with the A80 for history’s sake... I was imagining that you had said you were on a Paul Williams kick... Now that would be something. View Attachmentmy avatar agrees

One CAPI BT50 with GAR 1731s turned into TWO BT50s with a GAR1731 + CA0252 combo. Everything's better in stereo, innit?
LATER... I'm gonna bitch slightly. These things sound GREAT. But the blue frequency selection knobs, while retaining a certain design cohesion, are really difficult, particularly in low light, to see or feel where they are in position. Also difficult to photograph for Snapshot. I would gladly swap them out. Combine that with the deep blue on black silk screening and I have to get the flashlight out a lot.

Just got my Chambord BF500.
"The Bax with the Bump!"
Coffee time is my RGO time . . . otherwise, too busy to do any demoing now. But I will try!

AEA R84A ribbon with the RPQ500. Both wonderful so far.
Although I hesitated on the RPQ500 since the R84A doesn't actually need it's high input impedance, I'm glad I did get it (in a bundle at SW) 'cause the RPQ500 is a really nice pre for lots of clean and tone-shaping purposes. I'm especially liking the RPQ500 with a Samar MG-20, with just a bit of HF lift at about 11 oclock (guessing 8 khz) -and a HPF at about 9 oclock (guessing 60 hz). And, some Vishay resistors and Switchcraft RCA jacks from Mouser to mod my SA-87T and repair a step down stereo transformer box, respectively.

I've been looking for a 500 series standalone HPF/LPF module. This looks quite nice. Would love to hear what you think once you've had a chance to dig in.

Man, that is ONE expensive monkey on your back! You should switch to something less expensive, like...cocaine.

This year has been exciting and I've sold a bunch of gear to finance new stuff for the hybrid setup with 56 i/o, a Mac mini M2, 3 Avid S1s, 1 Avid Dock and a beautiful custom made desk and a 43" screen. After selling a lot of outboard, the "only" new outboard I got for the new setup is a Chandler REDD47 (to complete a stereo set), an AnalogueTube AT-1, three Chandler RS660 (my new favorite comp), a Sonic Farm Xcalibur JC and finally a Sonic Farm Creamliner III. After mixing with a Harrison desk for 15 yrs I'm now searching and experimenting to get the sounds that I'm used to, or hopefully even better.

Goldo vibrato. Kinda like a Jazzmaster / Hagstrom but maybe more aGoya. Anyways Goldo makes the trems for Duesenberg and these are really good. Put them on two guitars and work fantastic have the beautiful feel for shimmering And vibratoing….

A pair of Periscope microphones that are crazy good with built in compression I use for instant room vibe. Built out of bent brass pipes they have become essential for me. They bring so much flavour, once I press mute I wonder how I ever lived without them!

however I was afraid they’d be a 1 trick pony That’s been a concern of mine too… Not really the one trick pony part, but more of concern that that will be everyone’s sound. Maybe not a valid concern… I really should have a pair already!

A new Soyuz 017 FET mic. They raised the price a few hundred, but they now include a shock mount that's built like a... ahem... Russian tank. Plus they include a 20db pad and ship in a really nice larger wood box.
I also grabbed a new Shure Beta 57a, which looks totally different than the one I bought in the 1980's.

Yeah the A got a pretty grill, nobody really liked the look of the original Beta57, it looked to much like the Holy Grail of Unidynes the 548. The capsule is supposed to be improved but not sure how.

I'm sure I mentioned them when I bought them, but I found a deal on a pair of Muro Acoustics AC7 SDCs a while back. I have had really good luck on OH, which allowed me to use one of my Octava MC012 on snare which has been cool. This week I got to use the pair on acoustic guitar and I really like what they did. The song started with finger picking and switched to strumming with a pick. Both sections spoke nicely and I'm really happy. Plus, they are really good looking mics.

Chandler Germanium Comp, I've wanted one for a few years ever since getting the plugin. Germ Comp is every bit as spicy as I'd hoped, and will heighten my overall sauce factor quite dramatically and on demand. Sure glad there is a wet/dry on there! Like probably lots of others have noted, the Germ Drive and Neg FB alone are quite delicious.
For vocals tracking I'm using Germ Comp right after the mic Pre to cut some intrusive tidbits off the top (GR ~2 db), then I go through the WA2A rolled with some NOS tubes (GR ~ 3 db). On the Germ Comp, early days yet but so far Clean Mode, fast attack (1-2) & release (3-4) and Germ Soft or Med Knee with Ratio ~4 and ~30% Dry then drive the output Germ Drive to 3 oclock and use lots of CCW dialing of NFB (~9 oclock) to brighten it up and reduce the output signal. What a sweet beast.

Do you know much about where/how the Muro's are made? Im intrigued but fear they're rebadged random Chinese mics
