Ordered a pair of Tegeler's, a Creme bus comp/master EQ and a Magnetismus 2 transient shaper/VCA comp, looking forward to adding them to the multi-bus blend set-up. Following!! Hoping for a report. First unit arrived from Berlin, just took it out of the box:

I finally replaced my old broken label maker, this is the single biggest upgrade to my studio in a long time (yes, even above monitors). No more cable rage..

I just spotted an Audioscape Opto Compressor at a great price and grabbed it. My first bit of Audioscape kit - I've wanted the LA2A sound for ages. I'm hoping it's more towards the original 68 vibe than the UA RI which personally I find to be a bit too vanilla. Certainly the demo's I've heard of the AS Opto it has that vibe. I've been on the hunt for a used one for a while! I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts vs the Sta Level!

Normally, second hand they cost as much as a new one due to the hassle of importing, tax, courier charges etc not to mention one actually being in stock! I've just bought a new computer system and a TC Clarity M meter so I was totally cleared out financially but my lovely wife stepped in and told me to go for it and not miss out on a great price. I'll hopefully receive it mid week and I'll report back after I've tested it out against the STA Level and Thermionic Phoenix MP. I'm hoping to get a BLA BLuey and I'm looking forward to trying them out as the classic opto/FET pair. Then that's it - no more new gear EVER!!!!

I just bought an apartment so that was my big acquisition for the year, don't think I will be buying much gear in the near future unless I hit the jackpot, and since I don't gamble, odds are low.

Like the stam, changing the T4 can make a difference!

After purchasing another home to help a family member, and having to put on 3 new roofs due to storm damage in the last 2 years, the coffers have certainly thinned out. Although I have to admit that my microphone GAS has cropped up a bit as of late....

Why would I want to swop it out and what would I swop it to?

Some prefer a slower or faster attack, at one point there was a clone that had switchable opto’s, who made it escapes my memory. What Ward is trying to say is that if the t4 isn’t perfect for you it isn’t that hard to get it there.

I've heard it said in reviews the release time of the AS is on the quick side, do you know which T4 would be a slower release? Or at least which part of the spec's of a T4 indicates the release timing (and attack timing)? Thanks

Of course I could sweeten the Pot. By keeping ("Gene Hall's favorite" ) 47jr in that trade. LOL! Chris

I've outsmarted myself. I knew I could do it. When I bought my guitar cabinet, I wanted to make sure I didn't overstuff it with things. One of those would have been a Fender bass. But I realized that those years when I was doubling on a Precision were really helpful in building my strength and flexibility on guitar. But there was no way to squeeze a real P-bass in there. I know it's probably a sacrilege, but it turns out this little Mustang PJ bass does the trick nicely (it's one of their Player series basses). Only a 30" scale, but that's enough to help stretch out the fingers and have some fun doing it. Tonally it's not bad at all, and it's nice to go quickly between 'J' bass and 'P' bass sounds. But it does feel a little strange. The waist of a P-bass is perfectly-placed to drape your right arm and this one doesn't quite do that. But it fits in the cabinet and does the job. I've actually had it a couple of months ago, so we're getting on fine. But yesterday I said goodbye to my Heritage 535. It's a really fine instrument, but I'd been realizing that it doesn't really do what I want. It's me that's changed (back in the day, I played an ES340 for years). Heavy strings and light guitar bodies wormed their way into my affections. So I've commissioned another Benedetto, which I'm not likely to see till next summer. It will be a bit smaller than the Benny I've been playing a while and will give me some sonic flexibility while having the same neck and big heavy strings. The current Benny isn't going anywhere. If you guys want to kick me out of the treehouse, that's OK. I know my equipment lust is pretty much restricted to instruments nowadays, but I know some of you secretly share that lust. Wait till you see something else I picked up. You'll know I've lost my mind ;-) Attachments:

A pair of Stam SA-87T, Wellsprings, 3 old 414’s for the capsules. A Flea 12 to make a pair with OG capsules. Everything to custom build a pair of 251’s. Lots of NOS tubes including many GE 5* 6072a.

And the other thing was this old Fender mandolin. While I do enjoy a touch of bluegrass now and then, I won't be coming to Nashville to make my fortune with it. It seemed to me to be an excellent thing to have on hand to test out violin fingerings and double-stops for my composition (it's already been useful there). Haven't owned a mandolin since the 60s, so actually playing it forces me to rethink just about everything. But--cheap as it is--it does remind me that mandolin has a persistent presence in western art music, so perhaps I'll find a place for mandolin in a piece somewhere along the line. But I wonder if I need a mandola to check out viola/cello Attachments:
