They have a cool sound just being in-line and playing with the output level . I bought one blind for a very good used price, not expecting to be wowed... but it's definitely a sleeper IMO! Seems a lot of people here at RGO already know. Let us know your impressions, I'm curious what other people like them on. For me they excel at sustainy sounds more than transient heavy material. Based on this, and our mutual interest in the TAV, it appears we have similar EQ thoughts running through our brains. I've been hesitant to get the Gyrator because I already have DRS preamps -- so the output distortion is a bit redundant. However, having that option right there on the EQ will be useful during mix. Your observation about the application to legato vs staccato sources is interesting! I think it has to do with being able to push legato or more stable program further into the ouput stage sweet spot without big peaks overloading it. Without a stereo pair I haven't bothered to try it on keys, strings, etc. So far I've found nice sounds with it on lead instruments, bass, and guitar.

Picked up a low hours ADAT for $80, with 30 day return. Gotta keep the legacy transfer rig going. If I ever hear "Swanee" on it... It's a Blackface. Chris

My little shed studio is pretty tight on space but my Princeton Reverb has been sounding great in there. Finally bought a shorty microphone stand to streamline and keep on the amp (or scoot over a few feet to mic up my Silvertone). Juts a small ergonomic thing but bit does it make me happy.
Also scored a headphone hanger for my desk, tired of mit having a spot for my cans.

I finally moved off the Magic Mouse a few weeks ago and switched to MX Anywhere. No plugin could top that $70 expense.

Headphone hanger? Any recommendations?

Headphone hanger? Any recommendations? I got an inexpensive one marketed to gamers. I made it work but the realization I had after it arrived is that you want the “hook” portion facing outward for ease of access. So I chose to place them at the outer bottom edge of my desk for that reason. A reversible design (or one on a swivel) would afford more options.

Headphone hanger? Any recommendations? For wall mount, piece of scrap wood and a dowel. Drill a dowel diameter hole at approximately 30 degrees, cut a 6 in length of dowel glue in hole. Cost is probably less than $5.00

I thought it was lizard glitter that really did it, those Taylor Swift Lizards are rare as hell.

Picked up several things along the way as I moved and I'm converting adjacent bedrooms in our new place to a CR and a room for guitars and keyboards. (More on that later in the Build forum.)
But super elated with a relatively "mint" Lexicon 224 that my buddy and I split the cost on. Overnighted it to avoid it baking in trucks for days. Really clean and has a jam to it that you can really feel. We're plotting a bit of recapping and associated maintenance but so cool to experience one in person.

Congratulations, nothing sounds like old Lexicon. They may not be realistic by today’s standards but damn they sound good!

I'm waiting for my new 13900K computer system to arrive (due mid August) and to celebrate it's much anticipated arrival I picked up today one of those neat little TC Clarity M stand alone 7" meters. They're great, I have mine attached via AES, and I've been analysing the loudness curves of various Spotify albums just to hone my loudness referencing skills when I'm mixing. They're really are great little units - highly recommended. Yeah, that Clarity M is a handy piece of kit!

OK, a "serious" mic stand. I considered it before. The upside was that I could use a boom for my heavy Soyuz, perhaps bringing it in overhead, but I wasn't sure if its bulkiness would be a problem in my somewhat crowded gear area. My friend brought over his newly acquired UA Bock 167 (and Portico 5017 pre) to give it an evaluation, and had picked up a Ultimate Support MC-125, mainly because he didn't want to see his $3k tube mic topple in an ordinary stand. As we finished up Sunday night with our testing, I hopped online and ordered one, delivered Tuesday morning. 35 lbs, not difficult to assemble or take apart if you need to travel. Slightly smaller footprint than the On-Stage (with boom removed) that I was using, and far easier to move with the rollers. Hefty counter-weight on the boom, easy to adjust the position. So, not impactful on my space, much more flexibility. Attachments:

Ordered a b-stock Phoenix Gyrator EQ (500 series). Got a good deal, too! If I like it, I have an opportunity for more at an even better price. This EQ is completely brilliant! The combination of the HPF with the output drive thickening/distortion is really sweet on vocals. More sources to try tomorrow...
