Another Stam 87 T and I’m waiting for the Stam 78 to arrive. Same!! And this time purely by coincidence.

Just took delivery of a pair of JLM TG500 modules. Super well-packed, included a little note, stickers, and the boxes had my name on them. Love that little bit of extra care. The PCBs look fantastic too, I love seeing art, quotes, easter eggs, etc. on them.

I bought two Vintech X81s. I didn’t know this but they are a 73 preamp and 81 EQ, which I was hoping wasn’t the case because I actually prefer the 81 pre to the 73 pre. But the EQ makes up for it. I also chopped the dual pots down and put the metal CAPI Marconi knobs on it. I don’t know how to post a photo but it looks so good

Traded a Traynor amp for a Royer SF-12 and bought a BAE 1073. Woo!

The preamp is the 1290. Early Neve designs were built around two amplifiers: the 1290 mic pre and the 1272 line amp. I'm sure everyone knew what you meant, but knowing this little tidbit comes in handy once in a while.

I've argued that fact with well regarded designers, only to get shot down and belittled for my arrogance of telling them what they are building. Hahahaaa!! Gotta take it with a sense of humor. The elusive 1290 is a ghost....a phantom....rarer than a dodo bird.

The elusive 1290 is a ghost....a phantom....rarer than a dodo bird. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And yet they are ALL building 1290s!! Even if they would quietly whisper "yes we know the preamp is a 1290 but shhh that's not good for business".

If you're gonna build clones, you gotta have the right "numbers" in your product or you're dead in the water. I about fell out of my chair when Chris named it right. . Definitely rowing against the current.

Now guys let’s not forget how this all started, before we had the clones we guys pulling modules who as the 1290’s disappeared they realized you could pull a 1272 reconfigure it as a pre. Now of course after a while these modded 1272’s became as rare as the real Neve pre’s. Since these modded 1272’s were marketed as 1272 pre’s, so the clones were all called 1272.

I'm waiting for my new 13900K computer system to arrive (due mid August) and to celebrate it's much anticipated arrival I picked up today one of those neat little TC Clarity M stand alone 7" meters.
They're great, I have mine attached via AES, and I've been analysing the loudness curves of various Spotify albums just to hone my loudness referencing skills when I'm mixing.
They're really are great little units - highly recommended.

Ordered a b-stock Phoenix Gyrator EQ (500 series). Got a good deal, too!
If I like it, I have an opportunity for more at an even better price.

They have a cool sound just being in-line and playing with the output level . I bought one blind for a very good used price, not expecting to be wowed... but it's definitely a sleeper IMO! Seems a lot of people here at RGO already know. Let us know your impressions, I'm curious what other people like them on. For me they excel at sustainy sounds more than transient heavy material.

Based on this, and our mutual interest in the TAV, it appears we have similar EQ thoughts running through our brains. I've been hesitant to get the Gyrator because I already have DRS preamps -- so the output distortion is a bit redundant. However, having that option right there on the EQ will be useful during mix. Your observation about the application to legato vs staccato sources is interesting!

Picked up a low hours ADAT for $80, with 30 day return. Gotta keep the legacy transfer rig going.

Got an RND 551 from a great member of this forum. It's in my vocal chain for tracking now and really completing that last bit of sonics I've been looking/hoping for.
