Hey Ericn if you get a good 548, they are great -I have had an SD ( with the switch) since they first came out and have 2 others which aren't as good. Of course the foam inside the head basket shreds over time but you can fix that. My best one which was as good sounding as they get was stolen along with an sm57 with the proper Shure screw held wind sock as well as my car and a couple of heavy duty Tama chrome mic stands. I miss the 548 and the stands more than the car (the car was insured!) Cheers Yeah just plugging it in for a Quick test sort of like if you took what you like in a SM7 and a 57 you would have this mic! Guy on the KC Craigslist thinks he can get $300 a piece, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ! I paid $60 might pay a $100! It might sound like $300 but it's not a $300 mic! I do like having sets of 4-6 of Dynamic Models but I buy I also like to take my time and scoop them up slowly! Sold my Mexican SM57's when I needed a car, not buying any Mexican SM Shures again! Anybody know the AKG built Altec 80B? Got a guy who has a few.. Was that a $60 car? LOL, just kidding. I really find that the TAB Funkenwerk T58 transformer in the SM57 does something just like that. Makes it sound like a $300 mic, much closer to SM7. I'm a big fan. I'm also a big fan of cheap dynamic mics. I got a couple of Electro-Voice CO4 coming on Valentines Day. Want to see how those do on guitar cabs, maybe drums.

Just in time for lunch. A script phase 90, chinese version, $25, and a TS-9 Tube Screamer to complete the tube screamer collection. On the right andouille sasuage with noodles and sriracha. By dinner time I have already completed the Keeley mods on the TS-9. It does sound a little better. The marshall amp is still freaking me out, it's not like a normal amp sound at all. But I am addicted to it for now.

I know some of the Altec SDC condensers have AKG capsules in some eras, not all eras.

As for Marshalls - they're a mixed bunch alright.

The marshall amp is still freaking me out, it's not like a normal amp sound at all. those joyo pedals seem to get good reviews. Is that the original tube screamer? What do the mods do? As for Marshalls - they're a mixed bunch alright. The reason I bought this Vintage Phase from Joyo is the cost is even lower than if I were to build one myself, not to mention matching four FETs for the job. I checked out the parts and the sound and it seems to be pretty much spot on. It's even a little heavy, which is nice. And I like the gold/orange livery. I also have their Tremolo, which I did some small mods on to make it the same as a Demeter Tremulator. Both great pedals. For the price especially they can fill out a few missing effects in your collection. I gave away my Tremulator clone so I had to find a way to replace it. And I did want a more subtle sounding phaser, this is that. The tube screamer is a Made in Japan TS-9 with the 4558 op amp. Pretty standard I would say. The Keeley mods are really nice because they don't fundamentally alter the stock tone, they just sort of clean up the rough edges and make it sound more big and smooth and open, and quieter. Also it changes the way the gain knob works allowing a much greater range of gain settings. And the buffers are improved as well which helps the bypass sound. I'm going to post a blog about how to do this later. Mammoth Electronics will also do the work for you for $65. Modding pedals is a lot of fun though.

Just picked up this shockmount/pop filter combo. The shockmount alone was going for $120, but recently had a price drop. Not sure how long it's going to last. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/842594-REG/Rycote_045005_InVision_Studio_Kit_with.htmlGrabbed this. Transformer equipped SDC. I tried to open it up, but the little screws seem to be made of wax and are melting as I try to turn them. Guess that won't work out. Here's a web shot I found...

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get yours for? Seems like a great way to add some quality I/O on the relatively cheap.
