I bought an older Blue Bottle with B0, B6, and B7 capsules. I know some people sort of poo poo them but I’ve always enjoyed them for a more modern, present vocal…although their hugeness can be a little annoying haha

I just got a matched pair of Roswell miniK47x, a second miniK67x and a K47kd. My pal Josh builds those (he’s their staff tech).

As I’ve maxed out my rack space and I need recall gear for one of my new mixing options I got a Bettermaker passive EQ and a McDSP APB for my sins. So I’ve 2 full Wes Titans 3 Bettermaker boxes and 8 channels of Apb through a Nicerizer. That’ll give me all the channels I need and with decent plugs and High end gear I can “set and forget” and it should be easy. Another option I invested in is all tube with 8 channels of Coil and a Fat Bustard amongst other things so that sounds great. Otherwise I’ve been buying capsules, tubes, head baskets and improving clones etc. to create an Army of 47’s. I also put a deposit down for a Heiserman so I’ll be enjoying the wait. On a different note I got a stereo set of Schoeps with Mk4’s. That should save a few tax dollars destroying what’s left of Britain. Hey Paul, how are you digging the APB a few months in? I haven’t really put it through its paces yet but I feel it’ll be useful.

My first audio purchase for 2023 was a black Soyuz 013 FET for $470 off American Musical Supply. Just got it delivered over the weekend.
They still have an open box matched pair of 013 FETs for $1000, which I kind of wish I had seen. Also a Bomblet for $1000 ($400 off the normal price) if anyone was looking for one.
I also got a Crimson Audio Orange handle for my SM57.

Just check it out first.

I REALLY was originally going to "riff off that" Silver thang. Chris Here you go Chris - Silver Bullet mk3. WITH the LTL house band..... . Start riffin'...... View AttachmentOK, allow me to digress: I used to write car reviews and was invited to do the Rubicon Trail with Jeep. It was an amazing couple days— we drove down to their camp, spent the night, and drove back out the next day. And when I say drove, I mean Jeeped, because the Rubicon Trail is an awesome stretch of offroading. That night at camp was basically a big party, and they had a guy playing old timey piany like something out of a Western. Turns out we were the last wave and as we were driving out on day 2 we hear the rotors of a helicopter whipping the air overhead. Look up and they were flying the piano out— there it is mid-air suspended from the helicopter by a cargo cable. Never saw anything quite like that on a Land Rover trip! (But those were fun too). Anyway, nice ride drbill.

This AEG U47 microphone is still in the mail, expected to arrive next week. I bought it on Reverb because a) the seller has positive ratings, and b) that looks to me like a VF14 tube, and c) the price was low enough that I’d this thing is a total dud, I can absorb the life lesson. Please frankly judge my decision. When the microphone arrives, I will let you know how it turns out. Incidentally, I used a recently acquired pair of ADK 49 T-FET microphones for drum overheads, they sound pretty great! Tame cymbals, nice image. When the project is mixed, and with client permission, I’ll post a sample here.

I’ve been itching to try the ADK 49 TFET myself.

In a quick burst of activity, I have entered into the 500 series: CAPI VC528ml x 2 Electrodyne 511 x 2 To house them I snagged ab101’s 4 space rack from the classifieds. Also have another Little Labs LL2a compressor on the way. Should be good again for a bit. Lol. Since that time I have bought an assload of stuff. The most recent being 2 IAA QP5s and a Cranborne ADAT 500. I think I already mentioned the computer and guitar. 😂

I was thinking it might be a nice mic for our baby grand, which is a pretty dark piano. Maybe it would liven it up

Haven't posted in a bit here but racked up a few more things than expected over about a month's time. A few goodies include:
AKG D12, AEA R92, Coles 4038, a pair of Distressors and a Fatso along with a pair of PMC 6-2s. Only got the PMCs to check out while I wait for Barefoot to repair a board for my MM45s but it looks (and sounds) like they're keepers.

Lid up high, MS probably, dead center and directionally angled at the hammers . . . would sound huge! I wouldn't call the V44S.2 an overly bright mic or heavily scooped but it is slightly bright in the best way - like any CK12 style capsule'd microphone is with that tiny bit of low-mud scooped out of it. The bottom end is delicious! I put up a couple of reels on Instagram and may do some more with links to audio alone.

I gave in on the IK Studio Max 3.5 crossgrade (from Amplitube Max) that I passed up over Christmas. $77 with Jam points.
I did it mostly for Modo Bass, the Hammond, and the studio reverbs. I'm also interested to hear the possibilities from Modo Drum even though I know a lot of people don't think it stands up to other modeled instruments.
