New speaker for a Champ and a couple 10’s to mix up a Super Reverb. What speakers did you go with, Doug?

Hi, new member here. Figured this was the best place to start.
Mostly preamps this year. A pair of Sound Techniques ZR7064 sunset sound, a pair of Olympic 65 Mic/pre and a RND 5025 Dual Shelford for a good price.

The ‘64 Super Reverb had two ‘66 and two ‘68 Jensen ceramics in it. Have an Anthem and a Celestion Greenback to swap in for variation. Not loaded yet.

Pulled an SSL Fusion that I had traveled into bypassing after about a year of messing with it and put in a used Whitestone P331. Fusion is cool, just not the jam for me based on what I've added the last six months. Figured roundbadge was onto something, lol. Seriously cool what the 331 does in very subtle ways.

I watched this Aphex 109 go from $200 down to $20 over the past six months on my local Craigslist, which means that after 16 years and $200 or so, I finally have an all-Aphex signal chain That Aphex stuff is HIGHLY underrated! I have 3 of the dual 107 Tube essence preamps and a 661 tubessence comp/limiter. I''ve been meaning to grab some of those 109s. Thanks for the nudge!

The original Aphex Dominator with all the knobs cranked is an amazing parallel drum comp. In the early days of IEMs, before everyone added DSP almost everyone had Compellors & Dominators in front to protect the talent. Hell I was just advising a mega church with an all volunteer crew to put them in front of all the IEM’s so the new guy on monitors ( why does everyone think monitors is where to put the newbie?) doesn’t clip the input before the converter! It was a broadcast guy who turned me on to the Aphex Dynamics. Conflict alert during my time at Fullco our sister company, Intelix , was the very first to license Aphex exciter.

Update on my 7603 Xmod saga. Chameleon Labs phone number is disconnected and email to their support bounced. No word from Guitar Center yet. Guess I’ll break out my ohm meter. Opened the lid and the interior smelled like the magic smoke. Not a good sign.

Opened the lid and the interior smelled like the magic smoke. Not a good sign. Sorry to hear. If you deal with a local Guitar Center, and their store manager is crafty, they might be able to work some magic with another xmod that appears to be in the chain.
edit: while it doesn't say XMOD in the description, the image looks like it may have it in the corner.. hard to tell with the image quality.
Though I wouldn't hold my breath if you're not familiar with the staff, the customer service at those stores is really hit/miss.
...
Just to add to the thread and Aphex conversation - I finally had the time to test out an Aphex 320A Compellor I had found on the ebay a month or so ago - channel balance is wavering back and forth and pots are scratchy as hell. Looks like I bought a project.

Two Avid HDX cards. I just can’t quit Pro Tools. 😂😂😂 Maybe not glamorous, but the power you just got is going to make your recording / mixing life soooooo much better!! Congrats. Someday I may even go for a 3rd card....

Burned some savings this year :-) Bought a Great River EQ-2NV (Alto music), John Hardy/Jensen Twin Servo (used, from another RGO member), a used Wunder PEQ2R (local), a Manley Ref Cardioid (used, Reverb -- works great!), amongst other things including an item I'm most pleased with so far and will not mention - I may want to buy another one and feel no need to boost the demand/price!

I bet you’ll love it! I thought I bought mine for $800 way back when. Recently realized I bought it for $400 and sold it for $800. Now they’re twice as much again! Loving this new 60!

I paid $1000 which is the cheapest I've seen one in a long time...probably should have stayed strong and saved up for some vocal microphones I've had my eye on but always curious to try other multi-pattern condensers.

I haven't bought anything in a long while...but I'm seriously considering saving up for a UA BOCK 167 over the next two or three months.

Ordered a Milab VIP50 of eBay...always interested in these! I bought a new one MANY years ago. Interesting mic, square diaphram capsule, kept trying to find things it worked really well on. I asked my second engineer how he was getting along with it and he replied "its a great hi hat mic". I sold it.

How long ago was that? It’s amazing, the swing of things… How everyone is all into bright, clear, punchy mics for 10-years and then it switches to something else, like linearity, and then it switches again to something else. Put it on a clean guitar amp, brass, strings, sides of an M/S setup, or on anything you want to sculpt, and you’ll appreciate it more.

I’m always looking for microphones I can use on acoustic instruments that have really good rejection from vocals/surrounding instruments or good off axis sound.

The off-axis sound will be excellent.
The 60 recently did excellent rejection of drums just 10-ft away and bass amp 20-ft away, while on a clean guitar amp from almost a foot away.

All for the live rig 1. B&C DE-45, Sound Image had one on the shelf for $55, unfortunately I couldn’t convince them to use a T shirt as packaging material.
2. A Pair of Yamaha Cobranet 2 Cards for the DM1000. 32 Ch each way via cat 5! Yeah no need for a snake! Now I just need to decide AD8HR’s and a Yamaha interface or Whirlwind E Snake, either way full control of remote pre from the DM1000.
