IIRC Fletcher dug E22's on vocals too. Chris Unless you want a vocal to snap out of a mix, I would not use an e22s for vocals. Great on drums, tablas, dumbek, acoustic guitar and sometimes piano. Not a flattering mic. Very detailed.

I think I maybe have enough mics in the locker now. You've got 500 mics now Paul? If not....HERESY!!!! I'm trying to work my way back up to 100. I gave a bunch of mics away to a friend in the Philippines, and some other folks who needed em worse than me.

I recently bought a couple of Brauner Valvet X that are close in serial numbers. I wasn’t sure at first but then I realised they filled a gap bang in the middle of my ldc’s that is unique. Not too modern, not as bright as I imagined and obviously they will disappear so I had FOMO. They’re deep and smooth but with enough edge to sound modern without any hype. I think I maybe have enough mics in the locker now. There is no such thing as enough mics Paul😁

This just in... I looked up the E22s vocal thang. Used for Lorde's Grammy winning studio vocals/Album. Per Dave Josephson's understanding.
Maybe just a case by case fit. Chris

I’m new here. This was the year to expand my project studio to accommodate live drum tracking. To my Apollo x4 and x8p (qty 2) setup, I have just added a Dangerous 2-bus LT (just racked) and Focal Shape Twin monitors (still burning in). Also have an Advanced Audio CM48T large diaphragm tube condenser on order. Welcome! Got a link to any music?

Welcome to our little corner of the internet, you will find some of us fail at our attempts to be funny ( yeah Chris I’m talking about you😎) but for the most part while we are as opinionated as some larger sites here is a group of people who can back those opinions up and we are far more fun to spend a night drinking with. Yeah we really have to find a cheap way to get to upstate NY and Nobtwidlers pub / studio!

Chris Hey Chris, first let’s all remember the E22 is a SDC just like Bob O’s Motown favorite, but the thing with most SDC’s if your going to try them as vocal mics is get off axis. Now as RGO’s unofficial former gearpimp god ( yeah I think highly of myself) and live guru, 90% of the live condensers are SDC’s with one hell of a lot of foam.

Excluding software, so far this year, I’ve added:
1. Apogee Symphony mkii 2x6 SE 2. Second AudioScape Opto 3. Second AudioScape 76D
And then last week, I purchased the below, most of which should start arriving today:
1. Vox AC15C1X (with cover and foot switch) 2. Neumann KM 184 Stereo Set (with two K&M 210/9 stands and Mogami cables) 3. Shure SM57 4. Martin Ball Glove Leather and Suede Guitar Strap 5. Martin D-28
FedEx driver can’t get here soon enough!

Woodinville- just bought a couple pres from a company that was based there. Woodinville is known mostly for wine and whiskey. I’m pretty sure Mackie made their start here. Could you share any information about the pres here? Back to the main topic, ordered an U47 from Signal Arts Electronics today as the centerpiece for my modest mic locker.

Picked up two Radial SGI guitar interface systems...I often have to toss amplifiers in other rooms for isolation and these make a noticeable difference.

ADK Cremona 251-T arrived on Monday. So far I can say I like it better than the Advanced Audio CM251 and my BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage II with the B0 capsule. Looking forward to running it through its paces and testing it next to my TLM 49 and U87ai. Hoping to bring it to my friend’s place to hear it next to a Telefunken AR51 and his Lauten Atlantis in Forward. Should be telling. http://instagram.com/p/CmKAAb8J7dC

First post so I figure this is a good a thread as any to introduce myself. I generally just record my own band. I've been a lifelong musician, ran a small studio in the '90's.
Anyway last week I purchased a Daking Comp II. I wanted a tracking compressor that would be easy to set up and hard to make sound bad since I'd be committing. I'm kind of a Daking fan as I also have the Mic Pre II and the Mic Pre EQ.

I have a Vintech 273 and a WA-412 and both of course have input and output transformers (as well as my Daking Mic Pre EQ) so I wasn't looking for any additional color from the compressor. If I change my mind Daking or Transaudio I should say will add the transformers for $600.

New set of nos tubes for the LaChapell 992eg from Bowie Great and glad to hear Bowie's still actively selling tubes. I bought a tube from him for my 20 year old Rode NTV and it's transformed the mic into something really fab sounding - super smooth. Great guy to do business with.

I got in a CAPI CA-0252 kit and finished building it last night. I should be getting a Hardy 990C+ in the mail on Monday to drop the op amps into a Warm Tonebeast preamp.

Welp I bought a used Chameleon Labs 7603 XMOD from Guitar Center and guess what? It doesn’t power up.
Hopefully it’s a fuse (there are two fuses in a small plastic tray integrated with the IEC power connector on the back panel, but I managed to wedge one of the fuses inside the power connectors housing).
I have a message in with Guitar Center customer service but my expectations are low.
Hoping Chameleon Labs can repair the unit.

I watched this Aphex 109 go from $200 down to $20 over the past six months on my local Craigslist, which means that after 16 years and $200 or so, I finally have an all-Aphex signal chain. Unfortunately since the compressor is the 651 and not the 661, it's only 2/3 Tubessence®.

I bet Chameleon will be able to help. Pretty easy to get in touch with even on Facebook
