I was nervous to tell the other half after what I'd spent this month, but she's super cool so all is good. > Warm Audio 2A > Fluid Audio 8FX, FPX7 > Tama Speed Cobra > Roland KD-9 (replacement for a 2box Drumit 5) > Samplitude is "gear" right? I've not finished yet either .. I keep telling myself I'm done...I have a lying to myself sickness.

I've been looking at a mixing console (oh no, here I go again on my own). Reason being all this outboard is causing a bit of a plug socket problem I'll keep the WA-2A etc. but I'll sell all the pre's etc. Issue is, with the plugin era all the hybrids have pretty much dissapeared. So you either go for something crazy like an SSL / API, or go for some really low end Behringer thingy. There used to be really cool stuff like the A&H GSR-24 but it's discontinued.. Probably a good thing, it'll save me many thousands of $$..

TLM67 with the Max Kircher/IOAudio U67 circuit. Just tracked a couple things quickly with it but my first impression is "HOLY SHIT". Need to track more with it ASAP. Man does it sound good. Attachments:

Can't figure out which plugs to get.... running out of time for the sales... auto tune upgrade is one unfortunately. Was looking at UAD sonnox V2 limiter ( $85 with sale and $25 coupon ) ( Uad is notorious for giving a $50 coupon after you purchase 😂 ) or upgrade my standard ozone 5 to ozone 7 standard for $99... really liked the Acme opticom xla2 by brainworx when I demoed it... looking at echoboy jr since it's $45, I don't own any soundtoys ( don't kill me ) like maybe I need Studio One 3 Pro for red book/ ddp and mastering ( cheaper than wavelab and it's a daw ) ughhh.... I have no idea Johnkenn great list

SoundToys is the shizzle. I used to use Sonnox Limiter forever before I switched to Pro-L. The Inflator is cool too. I might buy some UAD plugs today, looking at Elysia MPressor right now. Just finished my Apex 205 mods... whew... a little hairy (check my blog if you want the details). But these are awesome!! Still need the Lundahl iron for the final sound. Not going to put them over the drum kit until I get shockmount #2 for the one on the left. That black one just barely is holding it, wrong size. Acoustic guitar sounds great. Really need to find a piano to record.

I bought a Telefunken M60 on Reverb yesterday. Then, overnight the seller refunded my money. He decided that he sold it too cheap and wasn't following through with the sale. Total dick move. Fuck him.

Compared to what it originally cost me.....

Really need to find a piano to record. Those are awesome on Piano - see my thread on GS about Ribbon Madness and my somewhat unique mic-ing technique using the 205's vs. 4038's. Beware though, they go down to 8Hz, and will need some rolling off of the extreme LF. Joly has changed up his mod and has some sort of custom damping for the extreme LF to mellow out the extreme sub bass.

A studio owner I know 'rescued' a D&R Octagon from an alleyway after receiving a phonecall to come and get it. It originally belonged to a TV studio and had been decommissioned. I believe it had been offered to a local community radio station but when it was delivered to them they realised it was much bigger and far more involved to install than they had expected so they reneged on the offer after it was left at their back door and the truck driver had gone. I think it was close to $200,000 AUD when new.

My pair ended up a near perfect match. Pretty useful pair of mics for not so much and a little elbow grease.

Sort of a you could have this if you wasn't such a poor dingleberry? Nope. It's up FS, but I just haven't really gotten around to getting serious. Kind of hard to part with, but theres no room for it in the new place. If you're serious let me know. I'm not going to give it away for nothing, but I'm a realist too. You'd be hard pressed to find a better, cleaner used console out there these days.... 1 loving owner and not ridden hard.

I don't have enough room to fit my stuff in, never mind a console. But will be upgrading premises very soon (hopefully).. That classes as gear right? - New house.

I ended 2016 with buying a new car today...Volkswagen Golf SportWagen. Room for hauling gear and drums like my old mini van, and still equally likely to get asked "so, do you have kid?"

I grabbed the UAD Elysia MPressor for $24 because that's just a silly deal. Already liking it quite a bit, it's different from the usual suspects, in a good way.
Also most of my final 251 components showed up and that's really exciting as well. Heppy new Year.
