Awesome thanks for the advice re: 7200 spinners for audio vs SSD.... will stick with boot drive SSD for now!
My CheRRyMan Customs sub enclosure arrived today. Matching logo with sub, engraved and plexiglass see thru with white led shining on the engraved logo... I know pics or it didn't happen... I tried pics off my phone but they are all too big to upload directly... may use IG, I used photobucket but their app and email spam is incredulous ugh no thanks!

Kind of surprised that it appears that John K is the only member to buy a Summing Mixer in 2016

Because I buy so many things, I lose track of stuff to add to this list.... but the Mesa pictured above reminded me that I recently purchased a Friedman guitar compressor. Best damned electric guitar compressor ever! The Keeley was a giant leap over previous designs, the Friedman is a quantum lap over that. Click me pleaseIt is the ultimate cheat pedal. It brings up all your weak notes without killing your strong notes. I have no idea how Dave managed to do this, and I am not taking it apart to find out. I'd rather live in bliss.

Supplement, bought 2 more S'Witchcraft 9625s, 2 more Redco 96 point soldered brass PBs, and enough cabling to rewire Blackbird... from Alvaro Marin in Portugal. That guy has an insane amount of gear for sale from a bunch of studios in that Iberian country.

The De-Esser is new. My goal is to fill up this 500 rack ASAP. I think next could be a dbx sub harmonic synth and two EQs.

I have 14 in my current desk and have added a further much needed 8..
I purchased a 70's Alice sidecar mixer and an Apogee Rosetta 800.

What makes you believe it's transformerless? Was it modded? I have one of those - the "L" stands for "Lavalier" and it has an attached cable - but the one I have is lowZ balanced (The spec sheet you linked to says 150 ohms) and I'm quite certain it has a transformer - every 545 I've ever taken apart that was stock* has had one, both HiZ and Low Z versions. I wouldn'w want to risk mine on snare drum - it's my favorite harp mic, one of the few things I still like to use mics of that lineage on. I got mine NOS in the box - didn't even have a plug on the cable yet! * - The SF Bay Area is where the idea of modding 57 style mics by pulling the transformer originated.

I have read online it was transformerless and on the spec sheet it doesn't show a transformer like it does on the standard 545. Other than that I don't know. I will crack it open when I get it. I also am not sure if it is trs or Ts. Hoping trs so may need a small mod if not. Either way it was the size that caught my eye.

Well, as I said I haven't opened mine either, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't have one. Just looked for it, found the box but not the mic. Might have to wait till my "assistant" gets back from LA about New Year's... probably in the box with the live show mics, wherever that is... Probably no diagram because there isn't a connector on the mic that might need rewiring.

Why does anyone want a microphone that has had the transformer removed? Compare a Neumann U89 to a TLM170. Same sound, but the U89 blows the TLM170 away DUE to the Transfo which adds weight and lovely audio gooiness.

Funnily enough I like the sound of my transformerless Neumann U77 (circa 1967) Maybe its KK67 capsule has a similar high frequency correction circuit like the U67? I dunno, but it doesn't exhibit the same spikey brightness as many of the modern transformerless models.

I like both kinds of mics. The one I don't like is taking the transformer out of an SM58 that's supposed to be there. To me, that just sounded weird. I had better luck with the TAB Funkenwerk T58 transformer though, now that's a hell of an SM mic.

I was nervous to tell the other half after what I'd spent this month, but she's super cool so all is good. > Warm Audio 2A > Fluid Audio 8FX, FPX7 > Tama Speed Cobra > Roland KD-9 (replacement for a 2box Drumit 5) > Samplitude is "gear" right? I've not finished yet either ..
