So after miking this amp and having one tone...
I went out and bought another Kemper. Number 3. I will never stray again.

Just ordered a second CAPI BT50 EQ and a second CAPI VP312 preamp from Jeff.
Also picked up a pair of CAPI 2-Stage line amp PCB's.

I believe Michael Britt uses this. I remember he had an open 1x12 powered open back cab, but I can't seem to find it on their website now.

Samsung 850 evo 500gb SSD for my 9.1 mbp...after doing the ram upgrade I'm hoping this SSD will help...
I have 3tb OWC 7200 external I record to and save all sessions. How much of an upgrade would it be to replace the 7200 HD with SSD's?

The SSD would be significantly faster but no sonic upgrade I don't think ? Would you keep them separate or RAID ?

How much of an upgrade would it be to replace the 7200 HD with SSD's? The SSD boot drive will feel like a huge upgrade. I don't the the external SSD's would make much difference, but could be wrong.

I've always heard that you won't get much of a boost switching your record/write disk to an SSD. Actually, I've heard that all of the rewrites could be bad for an SSD. But, it's just what I heard a few years ago. Don't know if there's any truth to it. I've got dual SSDs in my 2012 Mac mini.

But, it's just what I heard a few years ago. Don't know if there's any truth to it. I've got dual SSDs in my 2012 Mac mini. The true Athletes of DAW & Video editing are the "work drives" because your constantly seek -read- write the access times & zero friction generating heat/ wear make SSD's perfect, but because of their loss over time They are terrible for long term storage and back up! So get a Small outboard SDD or 2 for work drives and use your old 7200rpm spinner for back up storage! I was talking to a freind who is in charge of upkeep for a large group of TV stations, he says even enterprise spinners are on the decline if they are doing all the heavy lifting and more and more is using SSD's with a Redundant SSD in raid for work and backing up everything to the cloud ( he learned drives don't like floods ) and on site spinners. So keep that in mind. We both agreed 99% of drive enclosures today were designed with looks in mind not keeping drives cool unlike the old days!

If anything goes wrong with an SSD, you can say goodbye to your data. Spinners can usually be recovered although it isn't cheap.

If anything goes wrong with an SSD, you can say goodbye to your data. Spinners can usually be recovered although it isn't cheap. That oh great Beard of Audio knowledge is why I emphasized SSD "WORK" instead of "AUDIO" drive and spinner as storage/ archive! Though, I learned this lesson way before SSD's, one of the first 10 DAWs I built for a customer had one of those very expensive hand picked Glyph drives that cost as much as my current MBP that has More ram than that drive had capacity, in a Rebranded Storecase. That drive lasted 3 days and of course it had a very very very important project ! "What's backing up?" Said the client, Well Glyph would send a new drive as soon as we sent in the bad drive, but they wouldn't cover recovery so we sent the customer a bigger drive we had while we sent the drive for recovery on our dime! I spent 3 days calling Digidesign and testing auto backup systems makeing sure they worked ( Digi and that dedicated second SCSI bus made it oh so fun in the early days!) After that no DAW or Vidiot system left without a Automated back up & the client signed a document that said if it was defeated they were on their own !

Hell, we were thrilled to use a Mac format drive we could move and back up. I think I paid $2500 for a 650 meg CDC SCSI drive.

Yep. One of two at Deluxe Mastering in Melbourne. Not mine but one can dream! Both seem to have op amp issues.

No fair you had me very seriously think how jealous I was of you, now I find your pulling my chain. 😎 Need to investigate replacement Sontec HS2000 opamps. The HS1000 can be replaced by a 990 style op amp using an adapter PCB. JLM Audio make these but the HS2000's are more problematic due their layout and and spacing on the main PCB.
