I was gifted a broken Blue Bluebird microphone!
I was able to repair it. It was thin in the bottom so I modified it for more low end extension.
After this, I am very impressed with this microphone. Two capacitors makes a difference between ugly and nice.
Anyway, never thought I would have one of these and I like it better than I could have imagined. The B08 capsule sells for $700 as a "bottle cap", but you get it here, and if you fix the amplifier, that's quite a bargain for an all round cardioid microphone.
It sounds subtly different from my RK12 microphone, enough to be its own flavor. Even though both mics are similar enough on paper.
It is truly the month of LDC FET mics for me, including the Warm WA47JR I just got and love.

Now the Bluebird is broken again, sigh, haven't really fixed it yet.
But I refurbished a Behringer mixer from the same person, that's working fine, so now I have a Xenyx 1622FX that's new to me.

I modded the old Pro junior and got a 1x12 pine cabinet for it. Cooled the bias reduced some gain replaced some coupling caps. No negative feedback. Redid the heater wiring. Added a choke.. Weber Alnico 12” Sounds like a new amp.

ragan what is the stam sitting on ? ragan what is the stam sitting on ? (Warm audio 76s? Looks like a pair of them) My guess is you ( kcatthedog) mean the Stam SA-23A+ at the top. That is sitting on a Lucid 88192 (one of the best, sleeper AD/DAs ever...shhhhhh). But Ward hawkeyed the Stam ADG in the lower left, which, yeah is above a couple of WA76s.

I got this EQD Plumes overdrive pedal, and I have a Klark Teknik "Cloudlifter" thingy coming soon, to mess with.

Speaking of Klark Teknik, I picked up an old KT DN27a with optional transformer i/o and upgraded opamps. Extremely fun sound design tool stuffed to the gills with inductors. It saturates beautifully!

I have been on a bit of an Audio-Scape kick lately; Opto, Bus Comp, V1290, 76F, MEQ-A, and their D-Comp (I have it on good authoritity there will soon be a D3A with my name on it. I would not be surprised if I ended up with one of everything Chris makes. Supurb gear, ridiculous prices for what it is, and some of the best (certainly the most friendly) customer service I have ever encountered. Newest addition is the D-Comp. it is a bit chopped off in this pic, but you can see the Hairball Rev A that I got this week as well, it is very good, also picked up a pair of Chromas (one is in my Bento 6S)

My Coil Audio CA70S arrived this week after having ordered it in February. Steve Squire has been a pleasure to deal with. Hard to keep your sense of humor given the delays, but we both managed to.
Hope to give it some run this weekend.

Picked up an Audio-Scape Buss Comp off of Reverb last week, and holy smokes, I didn't know what I was missing! I've been all ITB up to this point, but got this as my first piece of mixbus fx...just wow. First thing I got to run through it was an acapella track, 3-part harmony. Sweet Sister Francis it was awesome...henceforth it shall be a permanent fixture on the mixbus!

I'd always heard that, but never had the chance to hear it for myself till now. Firmly a believer now!
