I usually appear on this forum wearing the hat of recording engineer. But as I've moved into retirement I've also found time to be a musician again. One of those hats is as a composer in the classical area (fairly avant-guarde, to use a dated term). But a zillion years ago I was a professional guitarist, starting in rock and gradually moving into jazz. I had a lot of vintage instruments when they were new. That all went away for a long time. I'd play a little bit of rusty jazz when I had time, but Lexicon and Exponential Audio didn't leave me with much of that. Now those free hours are back. For a long time, I've lusted after a Benedetto. This one was hand-delivered just yesterday. Sounds amazing and plays like butter. Attachments:

Plugin Alliance has a stupidly good sale going on right now. Here's the coupon, you can use it today, and again tomorrow, no minimum spend: MEGA-SALE-20OFF I got Elysia Mpressor for $9, I'm mpressed with the price, since I have the UAD version of this, and this one has the sidechain the UAD will never have. You could get some free ones if you don't want to spend any money at all. Or SSL 9000 J for $50, Ampeg fliptop for $20, etc. Went on a bit of an amp/fx model splurge using the last round of voucher resets; bx_distorange & bx_yellowdrive - free ADA STD-1 Stereo Tapped Delay - $10 Fuchs Train II - $20 ENGL Savage 120 - $20 Having the Carbon rack sitting next to the couch and guitar has turned out to be very dangerous for AAX DSP plug-in acquisition syndrome...

I bought a second hand Apogee Duet 2 to replace the Apogee Duet 2 I sold earlier this year to finance an Apogee Ensemble and an Element88…
I thought I could do without a small interface, and just bring along the Element88 when on the go. I found out it was too big, too fragile and too expensive, plus I hate all the unplugging, so I went back to the trusty old lump.

I wonder if Tony Bennett might be distantly related to the original Benedetto. After all, it was his original last name. Chris

Long time ago: "Italians need not apply".

Just got a Beesneez 87. I love it. Scary close to my vintage (which has now sold), and even better in some respects!

Both Tony and Bob Benedetto were born in the NYC area (Bob is a generation younger). You could probably ask him. Tony is sadly and slowly slipping away from us. In my wife's long-ago days as a radio MD, she knew Tony a little. Said he was a sweet guy who had a nice word for anyone he ran into.

No one should be aloud to sound that good at his age. He’s one of the last living legends. There will be a huge hole when he’s gone.

My late Mom was friends with him during the 50's/60's, and saw his first professional performance. Afterwards Tony asked a group of friends (Including her) how they liked his show. She said he was wonderful from the get go. Chris P.S. At his 90th Birthday TV Special, I thought Tony and Lady Gaga put in the strongest performances!

The 47Jr is a very nice vocal mic.
It may not cause Heiserman/FLEA/Bock/Neumann to lose any sleep, but sounds quite good and solid.
My first vocal clip with it, was a bit too nasal/congested sounding due to my allergies acting up. Chris
EDIT: Was able to record a better second song intro. Seems like this will be best suited for Uptempo/heavier Mix recordings. Like Classic Rock or Soul. The response graph indicates that tendency too.

SNIP My first vocal clip with it, was a bit too nasal/congested sounding due to my allergies acting up. Chris SNIP I too suffer from allergies, asthma and a bad sinus condition with a deviated/ing septum that usually keeps one nostril completely blocked, other times both restricted. I spent a year re-studying Lindenbaum technique (yes I know, full on blaring shouting and screaming and calling it singing) and this helps to open everything up. Just the warm-ups with the neck muscles exercises alone can open everything up. Flushes better than a Neti pot. OK . . . Back to the gear, please pardon my momentary derailment. I figured useful to Chris and Vincent might weigh in, and there might also be microphone suggestions for overcoming honk.

Can you share more about what this is?

Maybe I’ll start a thread on vocal technique here. Important note, I have a horrible case of asthma that was helped greatly by a combination of martial arts and appogio (Italian breathing) technique.

Sitting in a typical meditation posture seems to open up the nasal for me too, I have issues here also. Deep breathing can be part of it, or relaxed breathing. Perhaps just good posture in general.
