I grabbed an older Sennheiser MD431, like Massenburg uses on snare, to try out. I'm liking the M201 I bought over the Shure SM57 with TAB transformer but would still like a bit more "weight" Tried to Ehrlund ERH-E on a tom and it might pick up too much bleed for my taste. Probably stick with 414's but going to mess around with position a bit more. I thought the MD431 was light on bass at least on voice, never tried it on snare. For "weight" my best guess is the SE V7X on snare. Since we're recommending new mics to new mics, haha! Let us know what you think.

Been re-amping some electric piano VIs lately, so I upgraded my Lounge Lizard Session license to the full version, then added Pasttofuture's Pure Clean MKI Rhodes Piano DIs for a $1. Also grabbed their $1 Aerospaces IRs. I used the PA $20 sale voucher on their Boss yellow and orange dirt pedals, we'll see how they compare to reamping piano through the real thing.

My U87ai shock mount just couldn’t take the additional weight of my custom MKU67 kit. I’ve already tried replacing the bands. So I finally just broke down and grabbed BeesNeez’ replacement U67 shock mount. I had to play around to figure out the best way to place the mic in the mount, since it’s not no tapered, but it’s really solid. http://instagram.com/p/CQoutLDjH7C

Vincent. Is the 87i mount tapered? If so Can you take the tapered mount from the Neumann shock mount and use it in the BeeNeez ? Robert

Thanks bowie ! Just threw this in my Upton and good GOD, what a difference. I'm inching closer to being 100% happy with my vocal recordings. Also, sorry Johnkenn , I'm a shameless copycat. I re-listened to your old clips and bought the Mullard immediately.

I got Gig Performer 4 to use my laptop as a performance instrument, and Diezel VH4 from Plugin Alliance. Exciting in the sense that I actually need them and will continue to use them.

Oh, I also bought a pair of Audioquest Rocket 33 bi-wire speaker cables. Now, look, they were about 25% off the price of what a new pair cost so I thought what the f*ck I'll try it and hear what a $450 pair of speaker cables sounds like!

Warm WA-47 Jr. on sale for $199 + Tax, at some dealers. So... Ordered and expect receipt, within a week. Partly to test on VO. (Including on Figure 8) Chris I noticed the Warm sale from your post and finally pulled the trigger on a Tone Beast at $500. I’ve been thinking about getting it for a while.

East West is having a sale, so I finally caved and picked up Symphonic Choirs. Why the hell didn't I grab this before?! Yes, it's going to take a little time to program, but man is this going to add that big choir feel to my Christmas Album. Add a couple of my talented friends as ringers for each section and this is going to sound nuts. "Joy to the World" indeed! www.soundsonline.com/symphonic-choirs

I got a killer deal on this used Chroma+ w/ Pentode color modules. Had a bit of trouble with it, but Bradd and company at LTL are just super great people. Bradd called me up and got things sorted. He’s the best. This will go nicely with my Silverbullet. i.imgur.com/7lXbIXJh.jpg

Mac Mini M1 (8/512) -- refurbished. Installing shit right now. Damn! The speed!!! Yeah I’m going grab to the next generation M2/X whatever they call it when it’s released. But I will get as much RAM as I can afford. There are some question marks about the read/write longevity of the SSD’s which are not replaceable. Less RAM mean the SSD gets a greater workout. The original SSD in my mid 2012 MacBook Pro still going strong (touchwood) but it seems the later SSD’s are downgraded somewhat in the number of read/writes they can achieve before they hit the wall.

For potential reasons such as this I sprung for the $100/3 year extended warranty with my M1. At the very reasonable price the M1 goes for I won't feel robbed if it only lasts 4 or 5 years. Plus I'm not convinced that the MX will be the reasonably priced powerhouse everyone hopes it will be. But my 2012 Mac mini died, so the decision was made for me. So far so good.

(Including on Figure 8) Chris Looking forward to your thoughts on this mic - helped on a track that the vocals were recorded with one of those 47 Jr.'s - it could have been whatever EQ was printed, but it sounded interesting. There are some question marks about the read/write longevity of the SSD’s which are not replaceable. Less RAM mean the SSD gets a greater workout. Does this issue get alleviated at all by working on externals and specifying those drives for temp folders (referring to programs that let you specify where you want temporary files, rendered fades, etc. to be processed at)?

My problem is the stuff I am really really interested in right now is all so far off the beaten path. Examples I really want a meter bridge for the larger DDA frame, that will probably end up at metal fabricator, I have the meter PCB’s. Some stereo modules would be awesome. A AES board and the SD card upgrade for the RADAR would make my year.

Got a Behringer Monitor 1 for $39. Pretty excited, I gave mine away and waited a month for them to be in the US so now I can have another one.
Tried a Mackie Big Knob Passive in the mean time and was sort of put off by it a little bit, hard to explain.
Pot in a box is not so good with every hi-fi speaker system or monitor system but it's a nice handy thing to have once in a while, I think. I prefer active monitor controllers for my main rig. Or maybe I'll build up a Goldpoint object at some...point.

Hey there is an Amstaff named Mickey laying at my feet! I mean I’m the guy who walks around with a bag of treats ! People forget Pitbulls were once called the nanny dog because before people were teaching them to kill they were the best babysitter that would work for food. Did I ever tell you the Story of the guy down the street in Galveston who was the worst fighting dog trainer ever? After he got busted for his terrible counterfeit $100’s another neighbor adopted Bruce one of his attempts at a fighting dog. Bruce would sit on my lap and let a 3 year old take a bone out of his mouth. He made my Golden at the time look evil ( well he was a puppy mill rescue and if pack was threatened he probably would have killed). Bruce was the perfect dog to walk at 3am, nobody who saw him would mess with him yet unless you attacked you were probably going to get a face full of kisses.

A couple of years ago I built a Goldpoint clone but I was evil, a couple of the switch points were loaded with resistors that gave me my favorite monitor levels.
