Yes, very fond of 76s, opticals, diodes and vari-mus. Not so fond of VCAs but i have about 8 of them also. How are you using those 8 (or however many) channels of 76s? Seems like too much! LMAO. Inventory: (going by memory here, might miss a few) 76s: 2 UA 1176 Rev Fs, 1 Pro Rep Blue Stripe, 1 audioscape Rev A and 1 76D, 1 Mohog 1176 clone, 2 Stam ADGs (8 channels) Optos: CL1b, Stam SA2a, UA dual LA2a, Urei LA3a, LA4, Audioscape V3a (only 7 channels) Vari-Mu. audioscape V-Comp (yikes, only 1) VCAs: Stam's buss comp clone, Focusrite Red 3, symmetrix 425, 2x symmetrix 206, Aphex compellor, Aphex Expressor 651. (12 channels) Digital vca Emu - TC Finalizer And there are VCAs built into 5 of my channel strips, but I rarely use them. Clearly, I need more Optos, FETs and Mus.

SNIP Not what, how are you using all those channels of 76? I use the Audioscape 76a after the CL1b, I use the Pro Replicas bluestripe with the V-Comp. Either one for vocals. The STAM ADGs, The D mode is my favorite of the three options and can work great on bass. Also great n acoustic instruments. The A mode is like the Pro Replicas, a little slower than the Audioscape and not quite as grindy as the originals. The G mode sounds and works like a G. I'm probably going to semi-permanently move those to overheads. I've thought about re-homing them. The Mohog 76FET replica... I often use it on a precision bass or semi-dirty AC30 or Matchless electric guitar tracks. It just sounds right on these. But isn't always my choice. The Universal Audio 76s live on snare drums. But will probably be replaced with a pair of audioscape 76Fs The Audioscape 76D. Holy teeth smashing punch. It's the kicker. Have yet to determine where it will take up semi-permanent residence. Have I covered everything off? These are habits, not rules.

I bought a broken Farfisa Compact for $100...I'm going to see if I can get sound out of it, if not I'll use it for parts. The previous owner threw away the lid because it was cracked. Damn.
Also bought a used pair of Kimber PBJ RCA interconnects for a Spectra 1964 712 power amplifier that's coming my way. Sold my Bryston 4BST after hearing one at another studio. But, I don't own any RCA cables.

Everything I WANT is at least $1000 and that's a bit harder to impulse buy. There are a lot of good vintage Ludwig Facebook group, definitely worth reaching out to see if someone has one.

Lisson Grove AR1 is pretty phenomenal. My first vari mu (and compressor in this price range) so I was bound to be impressed to some degree but this thing puts a really beautiful compression on vocals (and I’m sure anything else). It just sounds right, as a records vocals should, without sounding compressed or processed, just harmonically present with a touch of grit and focus to put it forward, really, really great color. I’m tracking with 5-8db on average and I had to look back to make sure it was working cause the compression sounds so natural to me. Ty to Kevin Walker at Unity Audio for helping me w/ the purchase!
It also looks fantastic and makes me wanna record. Lol

Bought a little Orange AD5. Maybe it'll be a good bedroom/practice amp. My wife said she's tired of playing unplugged electric guitar so she'll probably claim it haha.

Also: I picked up a pair of TG2-500s. Really enjoying these while remixing and re-recording a friend’s record. There’s a universe of color in the gain staging. Quite pleased.

What sold me is the fact that it records too a hard drive all on its own. The quality is BEAUTIFUL. It’s standalone AND can also work with the computer. You can have up to 3 people handling the coloring, audio, and broadcasting / switching. You can edit the xml and add your own live-streaming address. 2 stereo / 4 mono or 2 mics. It records ALL the audio / video multitrack style and save everything separate for you. I can keep going lol.

I popped online to buy an audioscape OPTO (LA2a) tonight, SOLD OUT AGAIN. Geeex, I gotta back off the evangelizing. Is it just me, or are a lot of the LA2as unavailable, that's a hard one to track down right now, unless you want to pay 50% above street cost. Staying on topics, Kali WS-10 sub, and I am about to send the wire for two klark tekink EPQ-KTs, $222 each plus vat and shipping, comes down to just under $500 for the pair. I think the sub traveled back in time I got it so fast, I ordered late Saturday and it was here Monday. From AMS. Sounds amazing.

I grabbed an older Sennheiser MD431, like Massenburg uses on snare, to try out. I'm liking the M201 I bought over the Shure SM57 with TAB transformer but would still like a bit more "weight"
Tried to Ehrlund ERH-E on a tom and it might pick up too much bleed for my taste. Probably stick with 414's but going to mess around with position a bit more.
