Awesome, I'd like a sound report on that C12 once you've heard it a bit. That mic with a Campbell CT12 is one I've been thinking about making for a while now.

I've had Tim's CT12 capsule for about six months now sitting patiently in my parts store while I decided what I would use it in. At one point I was contemplating adapting the CT12 for use on a CMV563 but in the end I decided to go down the Matachung C12 DIY route. Hopefully I will get it up and running today. I recently (and unexpectedly) purchased a used Bock 251 so I'm hoping the C12 will be just different enough fit to fill another niche. ie a little more euphonic sheen and a little less weight in the low's compare to the Bock. From what I've read so far it seems that may be the outcome.

These JBL LSR305 monitors are pretty special little buggers for under $300 a pair. They sound as good or better as systems I have costing double or more the price. Glad to add them to the fold. The best thing about them is the imaging, very realistic sense of space. I would say they are in the "laid back" camp of monitors, not in your face like a KRK or something. The technical data is very impressive on these too...super flat frequency response. I don't know if this counts as gear but here's a new corner trap I just installed.

Need fit the capsule and output transformer and wire the new power supply PCB into the case. Using a 50 something year old Mullard 12AT7.

I heard that k9 eq sniffs out all your wierd freq problems! I would just be careful to ensure the "low pass" filter is permanently disengaged especially if said K9 is fitted with the 'Brown EQ' option. Flatulent K9's in the confines of control rooms do not typically assist the creative process!

Try the Yamaha Hs 5 when or if the jbl don't scratch your itch. That's a Great looking room you have in the pic. Treatment is pleasing as well as positioned to have a more even room response from the dispersion of the drum kit... I would shove a condenser in Omni in that corner space, facing outwards towards the room and record. Then squash the piss out of it during mix and blend it in to the kit for Drum bus

They remind me of a school library in like 1982.

Yeah, Emotiva has been disappointing. I bought two of their passive volume knobs and neither worked straight out of the box.

Just grabbed a remote for the Martin sound monitor controller off of eBay might try to see what old JW can do to take this to the next level.

Made a trade for this. It's arriving on Sunday... ...and of course my 2x12" cab is 4 ohm (to accommodate my '66 Bassman) and this head only outputs at 8 or 16 ohm. Anyone have recommendations for inexpensive 2x12" cabs? Is the cheapo Jet City any good?

How about this I'm going to guess the drivers are both 8 ohm, bring both out to their own 1/4 in or a 4 pin speakon, then wire one cable that is wired parallel and one series? Cheaper than buying another cab!

I don't really want to be cutting/drilling holes in the cab.

Is the cheapo Jet City any good? This is really really not a big deal. A tube amp won't explode or go into meltdown because of an impedence mismatch, not like an old solid state amp. The strain on an output transformer set up for an 8 ohm load but met with a 4 ohm load is minimal at best. And there is virtually no strain on the output tubes either. How do I know this? I've been doing it for 30 years now and have never blown an output transformer nor have I ever blown output tubes. Now, but running them on full-tilt, I have lessened their life expectancy but that's all.
