I cant remember when I last replied to this list but I just paid for my second SAMAR microphone, so thats on the way... plus some K&M Mic stands. $2200 worth of heavy rubber for floor isolation in the new studio, $1900 in hardwood, not to mention about $1000 in ply and $400 in strapping this week... plus $500 worth of paint for the clapboard (heritage laws, had to match the farmhouse I bought)... but none of that's gear. But hey, at least the mic and stands count! The fact is it's the unsexy infrastructure stuff that matters most but you know that already !

Totally unsexy and not for the studio but I just grabbed an Ashly 4 ch Protea digital Graphic EQ and remote for $89 shipped! I figured I can grab a couple of 2 ch for cheap for the kids school program them with keypads for the most common uses and make life easy! Plus for live ringing wedges is so much easier when your doing it in front of the wedge ! If it only it had an anylizer built into the remote! I begged the guys at Ashly to put one in and make it work with a Wireless ! They told me it couldn't be done ! Boy were they pissed when I pulled out a BSS Vericurve!

Picked up a '72 Vibro Champ and got my '64 Jaguar back from getting a water slide put on the head stock. I really want a VC. Probably my next amp. I need to fix mine, d'oh! It keeps breaking down and I gave up on it for a while :-( pretty great amp though.

560As arrived! Liking the desktop mini-outboard rack next to desktop mini-console. Starting to see a pattern here: big desk/little desk, big rack/little rack, big monitor/little monitor, big speakers/little speakers...

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Right now my 500 rack is walking distance away from my mix position. It would be nice to have them on the desk.
I just got my 560A pair too, and I love them so far. I did a really fun comparison against 3 different software emulations and it was very educational. They all sounded different, some better or worse, but the hardware just has the most motion and randomness in the sound. The plugins were almost too well behaved and predictable. I do like the Native Instruments/Softube VC 160 though for its attitude and smoothness, as well as its built in wet/dry knob. It seems to excel at bass sounds, which was my test source. I'll probably pass on the UAD 160VU, and the Waves is pretty decent all around. I might actually prefer it slightly to the UAD.

No sound, and the plate voltage is way too high. I've had to "fix" it so many times I got demoralized and gave up for a while. One of these days I'll get back in there. Amp teching is not my strongest suit yet, either.

Ha, I took a quick look at the board, didn't notice the label, snapped the pic. Ohh well, that was less fun than I hoped.
Weighty suckers. That iron is legit. Anyone use these pups?

68 Custom Deluxe Reverb (reissue) showed up today. I really like it. It's what I want for my Fender sound. Between that and the AC15 I got a month or two ago, I'm getting the sounds I want to get. I built another little 'twin' cab like I did for the AC15 (the AC15's 'twin' has the same Greenback in it and the Deluxe Reverb's 'twin' has the same G12 V-Type in it) so whether I'm using the ISO cab or re-amping from a different room/building, I can have the controls right next to me and tweak away while monitoring what's actually going to tape. And I can do split/stereo stuff too. So far I'm digging it. Just played several guitars through both amps and this setup is really giving me the tone palate I was hoping it would. Attachments:

I just bought a 2 x 12 open back Avatar cabinet with Alnico Blues.
Am considering selling my Bricasti/Peluso P12 and Elysia nVleope and buying an SSL Sigma.

Isn't sell Bricasti, a violation of some unwritten code of ethics? Perhaps for people with consoles and lots of other outboard, or people doing classical music or sparse acoustic music. However, for dense mixes like I do, the Bricasti is not worth the money imo. I'm going totally plugin reverbs until/if I have the money to buy a very good console.

I get it , I was just giving you a hard time! In the world of Audio we seam to hold some gear at unrealistic levels I love to poke at that bear!
