Didn't want to pay over $14,000 for ASC ones. I had considered building some. But I Found very professionally built clones. And for $500 for all 28 , I couldn't resist. He said he put a team of builders together and built 380 of them. He moved to a smaller place and these were some of the extras. He has a 2 car garage full of the extras. I might get some more. I built 12 of those buggers. Well...trashy ones. I wish I had more of them. Think he wants to sell any? Puts me at 40-15" x 3 ' and 8-9". Paid $25.00 apiece and he threw in the 9"s for free. He still has more. Located in Glendale, California. I don't know if it would be worth it to ship them.

If you think it's cool if love to get in touch with the dude. Thx

Just picked up an AC15. Absolutely love it already. What classic tone, and for very little coin.

I just received, and started using a Glyph 4TB Studio hard drive. I was very skeptical, but man, this thing is badass. I want another one already. Next level hard drive for my purposes.

Octo T-Bolt on the way from Sweetwater. It will give me 12 cores, putting me all-in with UAD. I am really digging the Curve Bender and want to use it everywhere, along with the usual comps and such. It is irritating to have to disable something to use something else. Not cool.

So I have this 500 series rack but would like to set up my bigger racks with their own AD/DA, so I only have to run an adat cable between the rack and my saffire 56. Before when I needed an additional 8 ad/da for my pro tools HD rig, I got a tango 24 and was using that. 5 years ago I sold it. I never felt like it wasn't good, it's 24 bit 44.1/48 so it has everything I've ever used and still use. Sure the converters are older, but I went and listened to a bunch of tests people did but couldn't really discern any real differences at the end of the day. I'm not using Burl or apogee or Apollo ad/da's now.
I just picked up another for 100 bucks off ebay, figured why not? The THD is 105db vs the 109db for my saffire, but I'll try it out. If all else fails I think I could flip this for 200 locally in a heartbeat. The convenience of having no cable runs between things really is up my alley. The saffire can do 28 I/o, so I don't even need to unplug anything.

ADK Z Mod 251.
I'm trying to be circumspect and wait till I've really put it through its paces before I make the call but damn, I am really loving what I'm hearing so far.

ADK Z Mod 251. I'm trying to be circumspect and wait till I've really put it through its paces before I make the call but damn, I am really loving what I'm hearing so far. That is a beautiful mic! Did u go with the Jensen trafo? What do you feel this mic excels on? I know the ADK mics have been getting recent high profile recommendations / endorsements which have piqued my interest. Maybe once you are familiar you could post some holes in a new thread for us here at rgo I am looking forward to your review.

I can only see the "Made in the USA" part on it but I think Jensen is what comes in the 251 and I didn't have them modify it. As for what it's good on, I've only sung through it for one evening but it was just beautiful. Creamy, forgiving. I can't wait to track more with it. I know Chuck Ainlay called Larry (ADK owner) from Blackbird and told him he just AB'd it with the 251 he likes best there and it was indistinguishable except for noise floor. Now, that's coming from the owner of course so, grain of salt, but Larry has a good reputation and it wouldn't surprise me. The Z Mod sounds like the recordings I've heard of 251s. I know they spent years on these mics. The tough part is they're just down the road from me and I can try any of them. And now I want to....

Yeah that's one of the other Z Mods I'm gonna try before deciding which to keep. At the custom shop Kevin has a little setup where you can plug in some phones and push a button under each mic (there are 5 lined up) and listen to each one. The 67 sounded really nice in the phones.

I just started using my new computer. I tried to do the "Hackintosh" thing but it was just too unreliable and convoluted. Sold an MD441 and a KM184 to fund this build. I thought the computer would be more useful in the long run than the mics.
Now I've got a dual boot Windows 10 machine for work / play. The Cubase hard drive is an SSD and loads incredibly quickly.
Intel Core i7 4790K CPU Noctua CPU cooler and case fans 32 GB of DDR3 Ram Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH Thunderbolt motherboard. Unfortunately no UA Thunderbolt support for Apollo on Windows 10. Separate drives for system, samples, and audio recording Corsair HX850 PSU, lots of power. EVGA GT740 SC 4GB DDR5 graphics card. This is more for gaming.
Runs quiet and smooth. Drum room in the house is now using the old DAW machine, so I'll probably start multitracking there instead of just using 2 mics on 50 foot cables.
Project files can be stored on Glyph Studio 4TB external hard drive for moving between rooms.
Only took me two weeks to finish the builds, LOL. Lol. Lots of troubleshooting. Really looking forward to putting them to work. I have some material piling up that needs to be tracked!

Attachment DeletedStill a little spaghetti monster until I finalize the cabling but so far so good. The sound is awesome and it's very capable. In fact I have sold 4 pieces since getting it because they became redundant. In that sense it nearly paid for itself

Used a little tax refund money to finalize some purchase decisions.
Krk 10-3's, TC M3000, and a ton of wire, connectors, and Elco parts to finish the patchbays.

I tried out a rented Chandler Limited Zener comp/limiter for a day and ended up biting the bullet and getting one. Amazing drum buss and mix buss comp that will get tons of use around here.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

I'm admit I have a problem...yesterday I drove to St. Louis to pick up a Slingerland black diamond pearl bass drum, and it wasn't exactly all I hoped it would be, but found a Pearl Session Series drum set on my and today I drove to Louisville and bought a Slingerland root beer sparkle kit. That's 8-ish kits (partial and complete). I need to get it down to 3.
