Anybody else see these?
I have been doing so good at holding off on new plugin purchases lately, then I listened to the audio demos.
Audio Deluxe, $78.95 with code OR643
I am such a sucker for nice verbs...

Oh wow. Didn't know they were that cheap. All this shit adds up, though. $79 here. $150 there. Next thing I know I've spent $1000.

My feelings exactly.
That's why I've started buying hardware again!
I added up how much I've spent on ALL my compressor plugins that I'm never completely happy with and the total is high enough to of bought a great hardware compressor I would of been happy with that would also of stopped my desire to keep buying plugin compressors (I'm not totally happy with)
Hardware seems to break that cycle.
Or does it create a new far more expensive cycle !

hey wkg, I saw this "I am such a sucker for nice verbs... " and even though I posted in deal of the day thread, I'm posting it here, because maybe you'll be sure to see it. I have never bought a Waves plugin. I'm thinking about getting this one, though. www.waves.com/plugins/ir1-convolution-reverb

Enabler...
I saw that too, I've had IR-L for ages and never seem to use it. It does have a nice collection of IR files though.
If I didn't have it I'd be tempted to grab IR-1 just for the IR collection.

I'm still buying and building hardware.
There's only a handful of plugins I'm considering, the Fabfilter suite and a couple from SoundRadix (Auto-align and maybe one other)
The catch with plugins is some seem quite resonably priced but when you end up with 200 of the suckers and have to keep upgrading every year or so the cost mounts up.
We're beginning make use of the hardware inserts in our DAW and are also printing our 480L's verbs into Reaper (wet only) for recall.
My next big DIY project is a plate reverb.
I figure when I retire I might get at least a few $$ for all my old outboard gear. Good luck trying to sell off a bunch of superseded plugins!

I've never looked at plugins as a recoverable investment, just an attainable means to an end. I love hardware too but It's likely I will never invest in an actual plate reverb unit. My biggest want right now is one or a pair of Samar VL37's which coincidentally are flashing in the ad directly above this window as I am typing this...
I did spring for this particular verb though and do like it very much.

I'm no expert and terminology is always subjective but to me the Abbey plate sounds smooth, lush and very real. Very easy to get it to sit well. The treble cut/boost and bass cut are useful. It'll get pretty crunchy if you push the drive up, I'll use maybe 25%. Out of the 4 plates I am liking A the best at the moment D would second, I believe that's the valve driven plate out of the four, but all of them are nice, very natural sounding to me.

The problem with plug ins is you buy more tools than you will ever need!!
In the end you have endless choices and you miss to learn the right tools for your work.
Thats the main reason why I said enough is enough with plugs. I even dont care about this plate.... I have 4 diffrent plate verbs and a million IRs... If I buy something its hardware because I have great plugs which I like to use.

No doubt that's a problem. I have one other plate verb though and the IK CSR plate never really did it for me. This one does. Not that it really means squat but this year I've spent 10 to 1 on hardware over software, all have a place somewhere, no regrets over any of the choices.
That said I really wasn't trying to start a software vs hardware thing, just thought this one was very well done.
And yeah, I'm a sucker for nice reverbs, whatever they come wrapped in. And also very happy I don't have to build a addition to my house to add a set of 4 EMT plates...

but at under $100 on sale its 4 plates for under $25 each and runs native if you don't use ua and I agree the gui seems very well designed.

I thought PSP 2445 reverb was smoother sounding If I did learn one thing on GS - it leads to nothing to discuss taste. Stupid me because I have done it for years...and wasted time. Its just tools I do not go to bed with them.... Sometimes I have the feel we overthink it.

4 different plates, one instance, lots of control, all natively, and for $99, hmmm, seems worth the discussion as this is the ENTIRE CONSTUCT OF THIS FORUM.
there is this really cool feature here that allows u to stay out of the convo, see if u can figure out what/where it is?

I haven't tried the Valhalla or Waves plates yet either. Been low on funds, so I'm waiting to demo. Filling other needs first.

In Pro tools 12 it's a bit heavy, maybe 10% to 20%. Reaper is much lighter at about 1.5%. 64 buffer on a 4930k running at 4.2ghz on all cores.

I thought PSP 2445 reverb was smoother sounding I just got an email about this being updated and on sale for $99, so I checked out a quick youtube demo. Thing sounds pretty good to my ears. I think I'm going to download the demo and take it for a spin.
