Listening in the shop but they are good enough for location monitors. The top end will rival $5000 speakers for 1% of their cost. The top end has better resolution than my JBL tweeters have. On sale until tomorrow, get a pair. will do. thanks.

What's a decent amp for these things? I wonder if they'll be suitable for a home stereo setup?

The speakers have a spec'ed power handling of 40W RMS. The above mentioned Class-T tripath amp has something around 2x20W. Could work ok if you don't crank the volume knob too hard. Personally i prefer to have amps with more power than the speakers can handle so that the power supply does never get in trouble when the impedance drops in the speakers. Maybe an amp with something rated like minimum 2x60W RMS for a load of 4 Ohm. But that's only me. Sure you can run the speakers for your home stereo setup. ("6 Ohm" speakers could be 4 Ohm speakers ... they write 6 because customers often think that there is some kind of "impedance matching" with the amp needed, which is a urban myth, and often don't buy speakers that they think are not "compatible" with what the amp manufacturer labeled his amp outs and "wants" the amp to see there...) This said, i am the crazy guy who powers antique french speakers for 200 Euro used with a 5k amp... and i swear they sing and outperform many studio monitors. ;-)
Btw., the tripath based class-t amps i heard until now are quite impressive in their perfomance/price ratio and might be a good cost effective amplifier topology for these speakers..

Beware! These are not the same speakers, it must contain the "AIR" suffix. Only these have the tweeters you want to have. The cheaper ones supposedly have a far inferior i.e. crappy tweeter.....

I started out with a chinese generic one, it gave me mostly trouble. I recycled it and got a used Niles HDS-6 for similar cheap money on eBay and it's been flawless ever since. Right now I've got 3 pairs of speakers on the same amp but it will soon climb to 4. I wonder if I'll ever do all 6.

Speaker switch box. Man alive, this is a breakthrough. Didn't even think of these.

Johnkenn the others already said it - sure. Check them out with the amp you are used to. The Lexicon 212 looks nice. It's a known re-branded amp, right? Have fun with it, if the small speakers doesn't sound good to you, at least they were *cheap*. Don't forget to tell this you wife, you *would* buy cheaper gear if it was always so good, but this is soooooo rare. (That's my strategy...)

Yep...hooked them up last night. Nice and flat top end. Might be really good for a different reference point.

Actually, I was hoping they would be a little worse than they are so I could really have a "boombox" type speaker to hear a mix on.

That's line level for switching actives or amps not speaker level!

Yeah - someone point me to a decent cheap switcher if you wouldn't mind...One issue is that I'm using Straightwire going to my monitors...haven't seen any cheap ones that accepts the big fat end of that.

Adcom's will take decent size barewire or pins take a look on eBay, in the past I have built panels with 4 pin speakon's and a 4-12ga speaker patch cord. Best simple speaker switching, was out looking at car speakers and looking at all the stupid digitally controlled switchers and thinking how easy simple patch bays and panels would be!

If its bare wire or pins yes, if it's banana plugs or screw lugs no. I don't remember how your wire is terminated! But you will need 3 pairs of speaker wire 1 amp to switcher 2 switcher to Amphions 3 switcher to Jims faves, personally like JW I'm a kimber cable guy but it's a bitch to work with, so I'll say your best bet is generic 12ga. I used to buy cheap generic 12ga extension cords chop the ends and terminate ( probably just tin the ends at the switcher box and crimp on Or solder Spade lugs amp and speaker ends ) in my poor kids live rig.
