Just a quick example of compositional/musical virtuosity in programmed music. The stuff you catch on the radio is not too good of an example of the possibilities of electronic music, real bottom of the barrel stuff. There's counterpoint harmony going on here as well as a complex and intricate rhythm. Aphex was born in the same city as me - Limerick, Ireland. True story. Lots of Aphex Twin fans in the British Isles. True story. He's bigger than Michael Jackson. Not a true story.

Aphex Twin is a very good example of serious (and sometimes not so serious) modern electronic music. It is very unique in how he works and how it is aesthetically often outside of commercially successful genres. I admire the way he produces music, the artistic creativity and independence. His piece "Flim" became very popular in Germany as a cover version as title melody for a very successful german tv series that even had a full length movie spinoff after the series ended after five seasons, that could be financed with fan crowdfunding...although most people don't even realize it's an Aphex Twin piece. So much for modern electronic composition, arranged for acoustic instruments. Very well made. Hm, i guess it's clear i really like him...

Btw. i think his "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" were one of the best albums ever made in electronic music, kind of visionary for the 80-90s with lots of influence on the music thereafter....
