To say Massachusetts drivers are pathetic would be an understatement, a lot of them can't drive 100 feet without playing with their smart phones! On my way back to the office this afternoon, four vehicles crossed the centerline and came at me because they were texting. I'm going mad and there's nothing I can do about it except stay home!
I'm not even from the city, I'm down here in rural Cape Cod. The worst drivers in the country, according to auto insurance accident claims, are Boston, Springfield and Worcester, which all happen to be in MA. Aside from texting, many drivers just lack respect, patience and good general driving skills. It's awful. How is it where you are?

German drivers know the rules pretty well and there are some hefty fees for breaking them. Most of them drive pretty OK, getting a drivers license is not as easy as elsewhere, there is an expensive and intensive training and a theoretical and practical test that are not too easy to pass. You can pay more than 2000 Euros all-in-all to get it. And it's quite easy to lose it as well if you break the rules. Compared to many other countries they drive quite - good -, but they also expect everyone else to follow the rules perfectly. And patience is not the discipline they are perfect in. ;-) They expect you to drive in a pace that uses the allowed and safe limits, americans often find the german style very busy and stressful and not as relaxed as they are used to... Not much difference in the different areas of the country, though... Yeah, mobile phones use are not allowed while driving. Still people do it, but you can lose your insurance resp. the insurance will pay in case of an accident, but get the money back from you... Phoning or even texting while driving sucks big time....IMO.

They suck here in Connecticut also. Successfully riding motorcycles for almost forty years taught me to look at other drivers' eyes so as to anticipate their next move. These days well over fifty percent are looking down at their devices rather than looking forward on the road. And this is at highway speeds as well. Cars are weaving all over the place. It takes longer now for traffic to clear an intersection once the light turns green because the nimrods are all looking down at their devices instead of watching the light change. My horn is getting a good workout lately, although my blood pressure must be going up. I can't believe insurance companies aren't pushing for stricter enforcement. Just yesterday my Parents were rear-ended at a stop light. Girl driver claimed she was reaching for her water bottle. I claim BS, tell the investigating cop to check cell phone. BTW, she was from Massachusetts:)

southern cal here, it's always been absurd! Now all the pricks in their 325 BMW's are looking down, it's the most dangerous shit i've ever seen! The one silver lining is the incidents of road rage are down because people are distracted from being pissed off haha.
Joke- What's the difference between a Porcupine and a BMW? A BMW has the pricks on the inside! 8)

CT drivers are always coming off the bridge onto the cape and they don't yield to anyone, the law says to yield to rotary traffic, they seem to do the opposite

Self-driving cars that are 'connected' can't come soon enough. The roads will be safer and travel will be more efficient. What I would give to be able to take a nap during my commute! Unfortunately that reality is at least a decade away (if we're lucky), about the time I'll be forced into retirement. But I'll take it when it comes. When dementia kicks in I'll be able to get in my car and it will know where to take me.

I recently read about a few techies that managed to hack a car wirelessly thru it's entertainment system and were able to shut the motor of the driving car down... I guess next generation cars will need constant funny updates like Adobe Flash...

Yep, about a 4 mile drive to the studio from home, average of 3 people crossing the center line each pass.

It's a new phenomenon. It used to be very rare to see that happen.

I won't get into how bad the drivers are in Southern California. I feel they should put jamming devices in cars so the cell phones don't work unless the engine is off. Instead the car makers keep adding more things to distract the driver. Soon the new thing will become Car Hacking.

The annoying things about NashVegas are that none of the traffic lights seem to be coordinated, nobody uses turn signals and everybody religiously drives either 10 miles an hour above or below the speed limit. Baahhhst'n Mass. looked crazy but I didn't own a car during the summer I lived there in 1966. Southern California drivers appear to always just floor the accelerator until something gets in their way.

The speed is not what drives me crazy in Nashville, it's that on the small rural roads folks regularly fail to drive on their side of the road. The center line seems to have no meaning, especially on curved roads. At least that is my experience.

True, the center lines almost don't exist. Wrong way on a one way street is another problem I hadn't seen before living here.

But the A**h**** here don't follow the rules anyway. Most people are too filled up with self-importance and a better-than-you attitude.

Nashville they will hit you and either walk away from the whole damn car, or just drive off. Lots of stories of metro shrugging it off because most are illegals that do it.
If you come here and travel on Nolensville Pike just make sure your head is on a swivel at all times.... they'll run right out in front of you. I've had to dart off into the center lane a few times to prevent from getting rear-ended.
