Watching WWDC15, and sort of liking the taste of the Koolaid. I might sign up, but I would like to hear from my fellow RGO-ers on this. Wondering if it is any different than Spotify/Pandora, etc. . . .

You have to get a lot of people to pony up $10.99 a month to generate a enough to pay artists what they are worth! I read somewhere that there are 800 million iTunes accounts. Even if a significant percentage of them are dormant, there's got to be a lot of people (100-200 million?) using Apple's existing service on a regular basis. If even 10% of these folks sign up for Music, that's, say, 20 million users, or $200 million per month. And that ain't chicken feed. There should be plenty of USD to go around. Should be.

Why would I pay when someone is gonna upload it to youtube eventually where I can watch it for free, or one of my buddies will just give me a copy of it after they buy it. Once the genie is out of the bottle....

This whole thing has got to make some serious splashes in the main stream public and media before people really understand what's going on here. Most folks you talk to think that Pandora and Spotify(free) are totally ok, and have no idea what it's going to do to the creative minds that would had been in the music business.
A boy once prayed, "Lord, please send us another Beatles, music is just not touching souls as it used to..." The Lord replied to him, "I already have, but they had to sell all their gear and start working at gas stations because no one thought to change a technicality in the royalty payout's that was created around WWII"
The boy sobbed, and sobbed and sobbed etc. etc. etc...

Apple's push into the streaming business will likely alter the dynamics of how consumers listen to music as the music industry grapples with declines in downloaded songs and tries to figure out new ways to get people to pay for music.

If we, as musicians, don't buy our own music, what does that say ? The convenience of Digitization is a terrible double edged sword.

If we, as musicians, don't buy our own music, what does that say ? The convenience of Digitization is a terrible double edged sword. This is exactly it. I used Grooveshark for years thinking that was legit. But that site is no more, and I'm glad - they were scamming both ways. I am willing to pay for a service that provides me with the content I like, while also adhering to the spirit and letter of copyright, and royalty law. Perhaps it is too much to ask, but maybe Apple will bring something to market that meets this criteria. And maybe also provide a kick-ass experience, too. Time will tell.

Samples of me jerking off are free for all on sc lol, but if and when I ever put out an album , you pay or you die Chuck! I mean Jesus Christ people pay two dollars for a fucking candy bar ! How about showing a little respect for people who put a lot of effort into this( I don't mean you specifically c), better yet how about Congress enforce the laws and protect the people that they are there to represent, the creative class is of major importance, instead they focusing all their attention on the plunder class a.k.a. "Wall Street bankers ", I guess now that they've taken everything, it's still not enough for these parasites! mental illness is what this is, this society has got its head so far up its ass It sees its own teeth )

To clarify, the foundation of our society, if u like what I create, and u want it, pay me for it! Everything else is an act of plunder. The owners of YouTube should actually be charged with felony crimes for mass copywrite violation.

They are talking about jocks and real radio as opposed to '50s FM automation. If they mean live jocks playing sales hits as opposed to the focus group study results that have made U.S. radio unlistenable, they could actually pull this off.

The publishing industry should be near automated, instead it's still a lot of guys in pinstripe ranting about how great things were when they first got in now. Seriously can't we just amalgamate all these stupid bodies, then fire everyone and replace them with a bank of servers? Just pay a few techs, a few layers and an accountant?

And it being Apple there are states already investigating if there is unfair competition. anybody heard what they are promising per play? I bet its a tiered system to get the big names.
