Yes, it's one of those cases where the promise of a high end product at a relatively low price is actually true. The low level details are all there, but never etched. I can listen to them all day and not feel like turning them off. The low end on the Avantone's is surprisingly deep, and having that much low end can be scary sometimes. Every now and then, I hear some seemingly well recorded tracks on an internet radio channel, like Apple's Americana channel, but the sub level low end is just off the chart. It makes me think no one ever checked the mix on a speaker that goes low enough to ensure it's not at a crazy level. Martin, you've got me really curious about the Avantones. Have you every listened to the Unity Audio Rock MkII's? If so, can you offer any comparisons to the Avantones?

I tried to wait for the Avantomne line of speakers way back when they threatened to release them afew years back and then they went dark. This was pre ribbon tweeter. I finally pulled the trigger on the Trident Hg-3s and really dig them. I would have loved to have given the Avantones a listen but the timing was just not happening for me. Quick!!! that elephants trunk is down!!!! 8) cheers Wiz
