PMC TOWER
Super monitors give me the ability to tailor the bottom octave for great sound. Very revealing and even sound.

AMPs, for the unpowered monitors are:
Perraux - 6000B for the the DynAudio M-2 Mark Levinson 333 for the ProAc, and or the KEF LS-50 Bryston 4B for the Dunlavy SC-IVA
What I forgot to mention in my previous post is when I'm done in the studio room, I burn a disc, and listen to everything in my living room. And in there I have a pair of Wilson Cubs powered by Cary 300B Signature, single ended triode mono block amps. Along with a Cary pre-amp, a Mark Levinson 36c Convertor and a Wadia CD Disc turntable.
Gives me a good overview of everything I did that day.

Polk RTi A3 powered by Emotiva XPA-200
the only upgrade path I am considering is the highest end polk bookshelfs, the LSiM 703
these speakers really suit me
I haven't turned on the KRK in months, but they are still set up

Eric, Now you're talking~! Beautiful stuff. Paul there is nothing like a true line source ribbon ! I wish I could mix on planers or stats, but the image collapses when you go back to dynamic speakers. The Vandersteens are colored as hell and the first order x - overs make them useless in the studio , but they are so consistent in their color top to bottom that if you know them you know what's right and wrong! The cool thing is having Brian from Induction Dynamics living 2 floors down! Oh did I mention our TAD based "Project Auggie"?

Sound Dynamics Ti300's: 3-way's w/8" woofer. I bought them as NOS from a high-end audiophile that used to be a dealer, and had this pair as new in-box. They were reviewed by the late Harry Pearson, of Absolute Sound, who compared them to other speakers costing $20,000. He said "I could live with these speakers for the rest of my life." (paraphrase) Also: - a pair of B&W v201's.
- Sennheiser HD650 headphones
- Monitoring thru a Mammoth Cave Audio Deluxe Ground Control (customized), fed from a Metric Halo ULN-2

jcutou, the B&W 805's need a lot of power to really sing, like 200 watts kinda power. I wouldn't call them nearfield either, they'd have to be way too loud to mix accurately I think. They're lovely in a home stereo system when paired with a REL sub though.

I really liked martin logans with the built in subat the hifi shop. Never tried them in the studio. Seemed not practical for that purpose. Not that any of this is practical....

PMC towers are powered by Bryston amps. PMC USA advised me to buy passive system and then supplied PMC customized Bryston amps. Fantastic!
On location I've been happy with the new Dynaudio BM5 mkIII. Great bass for their size and a proper amount of detail.

Paul, What is your opinion of the M-2s? My mixing "area" is 15' x 22' x10', and I want a set of mains that will rock pretty good. There's two pair up on GS for $2500 per pair. I am tempted, but of course have no way to hear them first. I would supplement them with my two Dyn BM9s subs . . .

Haven't heard of them, but their North American dealer is about 10 minutes from my office. Wonder if I can demo some.

What happened to the day and age of a set of UREI 809s/813s, a pink noise generator and two White 31 band EQs? When did that end?

I tried to wait for the Avantomne line of speakers way back when they threatened to release them afew years back and then they went dark. This was pre ribbon tweeter. I finally pulled the trigger on the Trident Hg-3s and really dig them. I would have loved to have given the Avantones a listen but the timing was just not happening for me.

Crash, welcome to RGO!
Those Trident's sounded really good when I heard them under poor circumstances at the main floor of the 2013 AES show in NYC. Only the $8,000 ATC's topped them. I bought the Avantone's and think they're even better than the Trident's, but relying on acoustic memory isn't a very fair comparison. I'd love to hear them side by side. It's all good at this level though.

I bet they don't suck.

Yes, it's one of those cases where the promise of a high end product at a relatively low price is actually true. The low level details are all there, but never etched. I can listen to them all day and not feel like turning them off. The low end on the Avantone's is surprisingly deep, and having that much low end can be scary sometimes. Every now and then, I hear some seemingly well recorded tracks on an internet radio channel, like Apple's Americana channel, but the sub level low end is just off the chart. It makes me think no one ever checked the mix on a speaker that goes low enough to ensure it's not at a crazy level.
