i think pt expert posted this just to illustrate that the view that 12 represents value due to increased performAnce don't appear true: seems somewhat less performane. How significant that is hard to say but so far how is 12 better than 11 ?

The new Slate VMR is crashing 10 every time I try to open it. So - here it goes...the forced move to new versions. Sigh.

I was wondering if people now what happened to avid's statement about 11 owners getting . releases ?
I know 12 was released but there seems to be a consistent view that 12 is more stable and less buggy than 11 ?
So, it seems avid has pulled another avid and instead of providing bug fixes to 11 owners they are forcing them to pay for fixes to the software that of course they already bought as 11 and that were pre-existing in 11 ?

Im going to upgrade pro tools one more time and ride that into the sunset, but I'm unsure if I should upgrade to 11 or 12. The only reviews of 12 i can really find just say that it's more or less a bug fix for 11, but I also don't know what those bugs are. My biggest concern with possibly upgrading to 12 is that I'll get an update that makes 12 run poorly and then my year-long subscription will run out and I'll be stuck with a buggy version of PT. Who do I call at Avid to request they run their company better?

I just read that at pro tools expert in people's comments, but so far I have seen maybe 3-5 people saying 12 seems more stable.
You can sign up for a one month subscription and try 12?

at this point i'm wondering how many people will actually switch to 12. i would love to see this be a colossal flop for Avid so that they have to change their ways to bring people back. it's hard to love a product (Pro Tools) from a company you hate (Avid)

If this one at Alto a full PT license, not just an upgrade? It might be worthwhile just to have a second license so I can leave an iLok at the office to do my editing.

Understood I am definitely looking around. I know cowboy and Range recommend and you were going back: how's going ? I've gotten pretty comfortable in it...unfortunately, I still need PT's, because it's just easier when people have PT's sessions. So, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pay the $200 extortion fee. I wouldn't mind paying $200 for the upgrade, but then to have to pay every year...man, that infuriates me.

A second PT license for $300? What happened to $899? Another spit in the face to those who already owned and upgraded, anyone can now buy a lic for 3 levels @$300? See what I'm saying about all this confusing BS, shame on Avid for not being ultra clear on all of this..., I'm gonna hold out for a bit longer, unless they show a massive shift in policy I'm moving to logic... Which I have a copy of for testing.

Your good through March 2016 what you have on march 31 2016 you own for ever ! Only complaint is lic. Can't be split ! Register the Ilok like I did under my dogs name at a disposable Email Address that I can give the email acct and the I lock if and when I go with something else!

I'm confused. Why would I buy another license? Wouldn't I still have to upgrade the license I now have on 10 and 11 for $199? Or is it now $299...I can't keep up.

The $349 is for a fast track and protools. Alto has a bunch of deals on PT bundles. It's cheaper then buying a new license instead of an upgrade.

You don't need the new lic but or the extras but if you want to put your old lic on a ilok with disposable email sell the old lic Ilok and interface and your pretty close to small change. Or keep the old lic and still have 10-11 if and when you upgrade beyond 12 ! Just keep it on a different unlinked Ilok !

I purchased this upgrade and when I registered it with Avid it was for a full upgrade to 12 with the year long tech support! This link, which is still active, is an upgrade to 12 for $150
