But it says 10 to 11...I'd hate to buy it and then it not work for 12... Check with Avid, they have always honored a upgrade on purchases from a Authorized Reseller of the old version for a period of time. It costs more to have retailers return old pkgs.

I purchased this upgrade and when I registered it with Avid it was for a full upgrade to 12 with the year long tech support! This link, which is still active, is an upgrade to 12 for $150 and if you already paid full pop for 11 now you paying another 150 for initially apparently not much and little clarity about the status of your 11 license?

I paid for 11 and they sent me 12 instead, only paying $150 once. I think Eric's suggestion is right, and John has every reason to be apprehensive if that's the case.

Yes I happen to be one of those who bought 11 when it was first released at like $350 then didn't use it for like 2 years waiting for aax plugs, then avid offers it to people at a lower price and wants more money for 12 which is essentially 11 or the dumbscription plan: ya I'm apprehensive too:)
happy for you good deal but do you have a perpetual license or 12 months from now it's gone ?

I wouldn't be surprised to see dealers discounting both 12 upgrades and yearly support plans after that.

Only the subscription goes bye bye after 12 months, pretty sure we are talking about a true lic. My $300 fast track + Lic is 10-11-12 plus 1yr support asset is mine forever, I may have to surrender if and when I were to upgrade to 13. Only thing I don''t like is 10-11-12 is one single lic. Asset.

Bob not sure how much room they have to move on subscription and I was quoted 1% over cost on a HD8 to HD10/11 lic and it wasn't much less than MAP! So not sure, I know dealers are pissed about subscriptions! They know AVID will have all the contact info and push renewal by direct sale!

Ah my mistake, I misunderstood your use of the 2nd person. I have the subscription for 12 months and it came with the last released version of 10, which I still have on my computer. I actually wanted to go to 11 and ride that out til the end of the year when I would upgrade to 12, given the situation I'll probably just let my subscription expire after a year and then use PT 12 until it's obsolete.

I heve not and would not use it for any critical music applications I think I will give it to the kid and find something AES or SPDIF or some small BLA modded unit!

DRAG. I know I am ragging on the dumbscription thing but it has really turned me off avid.
I worked as a bartender/waiter and my work ethic is you hustle to please the customer genuinely to earn your money: you don't just hustle the customer !
really sorry this didn't work out better !

That's okay, I would have needed to upgrade eventually. I can't see myself spending the time to learn a new DAW as I'm a songwriter and not an engineer. And $150 isn't bad certainly.
