John why not give Logic a try?
t'll take a few weeks, but once you're up and running it's smooth sailing. The difficulties for me were because I was an absolute DAW beginner. For those who have experience with Pro Tools or Cubase, 75% of changing to Logic is just finding things that are in different places. As someone who started with Logic, when I look at Pro Tools, it looks like a nice Buick to me, and Logic looks like a tricked out Audi.

I'm struggling with change too...Did the last two projects in Cubase and while it's really good, I don't have that sense of security that I had from using PT's for the last 10 years - that foundation, you know...I know what "this" sounds like everywhere and I can build off that. ...definately in your head dude...stop over-thinking and move forward...every one of my full-time pro-engineer buddies when asked what is their DAW of preference, they will tell you Cubase/Nuendo...of course, they work with what is necessary depending on the studio they are booked at, but their home studios run Cubase/Nuendo...

LOL. Made my day. Agree with everything else you said about Mixbus. We have 2 licenses, the second was even cheaper, below 30 bucks - couldn't resist to buy my brother one for birthday. :-D I also have a Harrison effects bundle that is inbuilt and can be activated, very high usability and good workflow and excellent sonic qualities. Is Slate rumored to be buying Harrison? No, but it's this phenomenon with Mixbus 3 / Ardour 3 integration, like i heard from Slate users all the time: "Yeah, it will be soo cool! And it will be coming for sure. Maybe next year..."

I'm sure kidvybes and cowboy know what their talking about when using Cubase. Being mac centric already, Logic was a no brainer for me. I also think it's an incredible value. It's easy to forget that Apple has the deepest pockets in the world, and they can afford to lay some serious things on you that would cost quite a bit elsewhere. Now I realize most of us already have lots of plug-ins, but man, some of what they give you, is excellent, and really are as good or better than most Waves plugs for instance. Their guitar plugs are I think the same ones as UAD, plus others, their editing is quick, flex pitch works fine, their drummer gives you something like 30 drum kits. You can use them with other programs like Superior drummer. Each Toontrack kit is like uhh.. $79, so when do the math.. Their Compressor is fantastic, they give you six of the usual suspects, but their Focusrite Red is killer., better than every single one I've used so far. There's a lot more I haven't explored yet, but I'm happy not to have to look elsewhere right now for a DAW.

I have Logic too...I'm a little more familiar with Cubase since I started on it.

Try it just for the compressor, guitar plugs and drummer alone.

Is there a diff between "Cubase" and "Cubase/Nuendo"?
