And just when I made a funny about Slate in my mic build thread...shame on me. Dear VCC and RC Tube User: I'm pleased to announce that VCC and RC Tube 2.0 is in your account and ready for download. Please read through the download instructions, as they are crucial to a smooth user install experience. If you have any questions or problems, we're here to help at www.slatesupport.com. It's been a long journey. Your kindness, patience, and support has meant the world to me. Happy Mixing. Cheers, Steven

Thanks for the heads up -- been looking forward to this since I've found 1.0 to be intermittently buggy/noisy (which hasn't stopped me from using it on every project).

well I well admit to being pleased, download install went without a hitch, ilok played nice, no probs two drivers for those who have mix buss already and those who don't running it in PT 11; revelation vcc has the new ssl console, I am running one instance and the mix buss (and revival) on a stereo guitar track got to admit each console does adds a little something nice, even on the acoustic guitar. good job Steven and crew; kuddos ! I haven't downloaded yet...does it sound any different? ie, improvements?

I haven't downloaded yet...does it sound any different? ie, improvements? They updated the algos for RC-Tube and the US A, at the very least, in addition to adding the 4k E EDIT: And, just found this in the manual, which confirms the above... "Every console has been optimized so that it matches the original tone of it's analog counterpart with absolute precision. In most of the consoles, you'll likely not hear a difference. However, the US-A and RC-Tube models were modified to match some new reference units that we obtained, and while the changes are very subtle, we think they are for the better and hope you'll agree!"

For someone who didn't like the original and gave up using it after a month or so, is it worth downloading this version? Is there anything SIGNIFICANTLY better or different?

i'd say yes, the whole thing has been updated so it will be much more cpu efficient. i find the effect still subtle but more apparent, Its in VMR which is cool and you get the revival kind of exciter for free
30 day free demo I think, would be especially cool if you have just finished bed tracks are are just starting to mix

I've been on the fence about Slate for a long time, I can't decide to try or not... I guess a demo would be easy enough..

I actually really like the Neve VCC. Use it on every mix and I think it definitely adds some punch and separation when used on the whole mix.

I'm just wondering if it SOUNDS different. I didn't like the last one (and I won't go into why here), and I'm inclined to not download unless there's something in it that sounds significantly different - not just updated for more efficiency and AAX, etc..

Yeah. Previous one.

The reason I commented the cpu efficiency was that i used to not be able to instantiate vcc on all tracks and busses so couldn't achieve the full effect.
my quick sense is the the update does sound better but hard to quantify. There is a slate video demoing the new vcc . The differences on and bypassed are quite apparent whether people appreciate that difference I can't say.

Great, now where's the FG-X I've been promised for two years?

I've got VP28's, transformers on every input on my summing rig, and I'm also using the transformer outs on my summing rig...... I'm afraid if I went with something like this I'd go a little overboard on the saturation.

Mh but that is what Steven also said in the first release? Its the same like with UAD …. but now this time we did it. Oh no sorry the first time it was not precise - but now it is- buy it. How precise you can get? SHY I still love my RACK!

no offence and i'm not a crazy vcc guy but I don't think this product was aimed at people with racks of gear and console but at people who largely mix itb.
I also accept the premise that coding can be improved as technology marches on.
i have vcc and really don't use it so in demoing it I was not thinking this will be huge !
I was actually just pleasantly surprised by a more( to my ear ) apparent effect of vcc's consoles.
at the end of the day its another plugin tool that costs $150, if you don't have it already ( upgrade is free to current owners, thx Ricfoxx below) and you can probably get it cheaper if you shop around
if you use plugs , its an interesting demo.
I think all plug manufacturers will soon emulate slate's ( how ironic) vmr. A host gui skin that allows one to open a chain of plugs and to be able to easily change their sequence , as they remain open and functioning is a good innovation. UA's new Console 2 GUI I believe has a similar feature but they call it channel strip. Much better than opening the individual plugs on your tracks!

I got the free Revival plug, figured why not try it since it's free. Along with that, it seems I've got some console strips. I can't tell if the strips are a demo that will run out, or they're part of the free package. Nevertheless, when demos run out, I've had huge issues with iLok. Even when I've bought the plug or opted out before the demo time was finished, I've been locked out of my own tracks. It's like a company locking you out of your home because you forgot to pay a phone bill, a gigantic overreach. I hope that doesn't happen again. I'll probably call Slate on Monday, just to be sure.

Martin John Butler revival is free so included in the demo so you have the vcc demo running so in vmr you can load the vcc track, buss and the revival plug ins and move around their order. the ilok problems you had associated with your relab install were part of the old ilok system. the new ilok mgr app which runs on your computer I have had no problems with. Now All plug in and ilok info resides inside your computer. You only go ilok site for account administration issues. i just sold some slate plugs and the process and ilok worked flawlessly: happy new owner in Madrid As I owned the plugs, the vmr shell remained but empty as you are demoing that may happen or maybe vmr will disappear unless you purchase.
