Yeah, first paragraph: "Apollo Expanded provides MAC users ......." Bummer for me, but very happy for you MAC guys. The issue is that Microsoft is doing a poor job of supporting Thunderbolt, not really UA's fault I think.

Yeah, first paragraph: "Apollo Expanded provides MAC users ......." Bummer for me, but very happy for you MAC guys. Yes, I sold my quad UAD-2 with most plugins last year for various reasons, with the intent of eventually coming back to the UAD fold. Now that they've decided to go Mac-only, I'm so glad I sold it when I did. Maybe PC users were a very small percentage of their customer base, which would make this a good business decision. All I can do is continue to support those companies that support my platform of choice, and hope that UAD will support PC's again in the future.

Not blaming UA. I've got four UAD cards in a beautiful new ADK PC. I would consider an Apollo16, but.......

note they say this requires tbolt 2 which must be false as most apollo's in the field are tbolt 1. Tbolt2 ports are backwards compatible anyway and I am sure the gui does not distinguish between tbolt 1 and 2.

I wonder if us PC users can exceed the four-card/device limit now? Four cards and one Apollo? Obviously outside of the Thunderbolt issue.

So - can I use my Apollo with FW with Console 2 if I don't want the daisy chaining capabilities?

As you say, it must be both TB 1 and 2. @johnkenn Sorry, I wrote in March in Swedish "Mars" forgot me there I was too excited after I saw the video. Think it becomes a killer setup daw with the new UAD update!

looks like FW is Console 1 and Console 2 is just tbolt so consoles would be imbedded int the two different drivers
the Ua staff are at NAMM so a little difficult to get answers but Matt the main mod at ua forum is in comms with Gannon the ua rep and trying to get a series of about 10 question answered.
I wil post here when they are available
looks like console 2.0 is sort of apollo 2nd gen although HW stayed the same so far
stil rumours speculation about an 8 pre octo apollo but nothing confirmed and no comments from ua about midi control but they must be working on it
looks like the fish boned all the survey answers and decided to address as much as possible in the redesign of Console to create 2.0 and are probably working on other major things ( midi, ect. fro later releases.)
Console 2.0 adds many new easier workflow features like slate rack VMR ect..

Yeah - it's impressive. BUT I'm a little bummed that I'm being punished for being an early adopter of the FW Apollo - because now I have to buy the Tbolt card at full price when it's being given away free with new Apollos. It would certainly be a nice gesture if they offered current owners a discount on the card. But alas - probably ain't gonna happen.

The Apollo Solo/Twin are so affordable, (considering the not infrequent discounts the major stores offer), it's incredulous that the Thunderbolt card is more that 2/3 the cost of the brand new unit with T-bolt included. I usually wait for the 15% discount sale before buying, which come around at least 3X a year.
We need an amnesty plan from UAD for our Thunderbolt cards, have mercy UAD, we've been on your front lines for a long time now..

For real...I'm supposed to pay 60% of the cost of an Apollo Solo for the thunderbolt card? I don't want to bitch - but I'm gonna bitch. That CAN'T be more than a $40 part.

I reviewed the UA Wesley and Sound Sonic video to see what can be gleaned from it:
ALL DSP sharing :58
Master Monitor (Twin) unit plus cascade 1:28
Sends/outs 4:00
Di plus Wet trax? 6:16
Filter Console view 8:19 (inserts, present and user channel strips)
No Midi but tap tempo 9:42
New Plugs 9:57
3 monitor pairs ( plus trim) 13.25
Need Tbolt not tbolt 2 no FW 15:30
Undo/redo 16:16
Built in tap tempo,resolution 17:15
Ganged DSP ( all shares on line) 17:45 (All pop ups bottom left)
From Matt H UA Forum Mod probably after talking to Gannon.
Okay, here's the official word:
Q: Can both TB1 and TB2 cards can be used for cascading and Console 2? A: Yes.
Q: Is ALL I/O from each device accessible while Cascading (including each units' ADAT channels), unlike the previous cascade system? A: Yes! All analog and ADAT is available now. No MADI.
Q: Will the new Unison plugins will still work through Unison on the Firewire Apollos? A: Yes.
Q: Will FW Apollo's simply stay with Console 1 firmware from here on out unless a TB card gets installed? A: TBD.
It *appears* all DSP (Apollo and OCTO TB) is shared universally through Console 2. Will update once I receive confirmation.

Re: Thunderbolt Card Amnesty Purchase Option
Dear Mr. Putnam,
I am writing to request that you consider offering a 1 month amnesty period to all current registered Apollo owners, who do not have a Thunderbolt card, to allow them to purchase 1 card per apollo they own, including a discount percentage set at your discretion.
Perhaps also, you could consider launching a 1 month, 1-2 plug, custom bundle discount offer to those registered Apollo owners who have in the past purchased Thunderbolt cards at retail prices ?
If you could offer these two options during an advertised 1 month period, it would allow the individuals to elect to support UA’s offer or not.
I think this gesture on UA’s part would go a very long way to resolve a bit of a festering issue in the our community, which is now exacerbated by the launch of the great new Console 2.0 GUi.
Your support of my request would also allow us all to move forward, putting the difference of this perceived inequity, e.g., early FW adopters now have to spend an additional $499 for a card that is given away free now behind us. This would allow everyone opportunity to enjoy Console 2.0’s features and improved workflow.
Thank you for considering my request, which I make respectfully. Let me thank you and your hard working UA team for its fine and innovative products.
Sincerely,
Matthew Blue aka kcatthedog

One apollo is master and Console 2.0 has the combined dsp usage indicated in a pop up opened at bottom left of console gui. You can track all trax wet or any combo of individual trax, use your own preset channel strips and interact with all plugs in channel strips in real time which will be great for you and tracking mixing different genres of drum styles !

Nice, kcatthedog...Maybe you could explain what the issue is a little more clearly - eg, We early FW adopters now have to spend an additional $499 for a card that is given away free now.
