You would think they would have their website up and running before the announcement. It didn't take me 25 years in the business to figure that little nugget out. Sorry for the catty-ness...just interesting to me that if you go to www.neatmic.com. There's the Neat logo and that's it.

Sorry for the catty-ness...just interesting to me that if you go to www.neatmic.com. There's the Neat logo and that's it. They had the site working a couple days ago. It's really terrible. Disgusting to see a brand like Gibson pushing such cheese. All the products are black and yellow striped like bees, including the shockmounts and cables. They also had an about page with the picture below that I snagged from the link kidvybes posted above. It's like a cheesy family photo from a 90's mall photo studio.

Judging from what the did to the Dobro brand in just a few short years, I have little hope for these products.

...I was really hoping this thread was going to be about the new Buzz Audio Diode Bridge Compressor. These look fantastic and the clips are great. Might have to nip down to the Buzz workshop again next weekend and have a play with one. Tim was going to do a couple of essence modules for me, but the dbc could be a smarter move.

What if they sound killer? That would be pretty funny Even if they do, it's going to be an uphill battle getting studios to populate their rooms with killer bees.

You all are so behind the times.. Yellow is the new Blue. Hey Mark, you're going to be in the market for some mics right? Could really get a great start stocking the closet with these yellow jackets.

There is a certain sales rep who has been the topic of discussion here who is probably already saying something like this:
"The new Gibson Neat microphone is no joke. It took me a minute to get over the bright yellow banding but it wound up being a real plus when tracking vocals in the low light conditions of most vocal booths. Additionally it allowed me to know where I was in relation to the capsule without having to take my eyes off of the lyrics on my lead sheet. I'm not gonna lie, I'm totally blown away by this microphone. It puts a shimmery goo over the vox that just really sits so warm and full in the mix. Where most lower end capsules can get a little buzzy, this thing just hums. If you are looking for a mic that has a lot of the weight associated with say a U47 but also the top end airiness of a vintage 251 then this mic comes really close. I spent a lot of time with it this weekend and I got really close to it, I held it in my hands, I kissed it, and when it was all said and done, I came away with a hummer."

Yep - the studio is coming together - Still sussing out the configuration of bass traps and absorption panels, and trying to figure out how much to DIY and how much to purchase assembled.. Then the wife has to give me the OK on fabric color coordination. Geesh - it's just a home studio. ..and who would of guessed that companies like Guilford of Maine would come up with a gazillion different acoustical fabric options? The music can suck for all she cares, but damn it, the room is not going to offend her sensibilities. Looking forward to shooting out some mics.

Wonder how Sting would sound on this mic good one, how about... you have to tell people "if u hear a "buzz" in the mic, it's perfectly normal" 8) If you put a bunch of these in your locker, would people "swarm" to your studio? 8) don't get too close, if you touch your lip to the head basket, your lip swell up like a balloon? 8) you could say "i'm as busy as a bee" and actually mean it 8) If you have a shitty singer, you could say "apparently you can attract bee's with shit" (i'm reaching hard at this point lol) If these new mics are the Bees knees, they could bring Beeznees to their knees?... If John Mcbride gets 10 of these(you know he will lol), you could go to his studio and learn about the "Blackbird and the bees" thats all i've got.....
