Yep - the studio is coming together - Still sussing out the configuration of bass traps and absorption panels, and trying to figure out how much to DIY and how much to purchase assembled.. Then the wife has to give me the OK on fabric color coordination. Geesh - it's just a home studio. ..and who would of guessed that companies like Guilford of Maine would come up with a gazillion different acoustical fabric options? The music can suck for all she cares, but damn it, the room is not going to offend her sensibilities. Looking forward to shooting out some mics. Come to think of it, I don't think I'd be allowed to include the mic in the shoot-out. Bumblebee yellow is definitely not on the acceptable color palette.

This is why I was only being partly facetious earlier. Even if they sound fantastic, they look like toys.

I guess there's the possibility that we're not the target market But I'm kind of shocked that a company this large would be this tone deaf to their market. Maybe it will be huge...but I wouldn't want my job depending on it.

Depending on how it sounds and price point, I'd buy one.

Depending on how it sounds and price point, I'd buy one. Right, In the end, it's all about function and affordability. A good mic is a good mic. ..you just have to find a place to hide the thing when you're not using it.

I'd have to paint the frickin' yellow part if I liked the sound. It looks so silly. If they improve upon the Blue mic designs, it might actually be pretty good. It's great that a major company is making a new mic, too bad, it seems they're trying to appeal to a young market, which seems small to me when compared to all the potential mic buyers, but I don't have any statistics to be sure.

Well, reminds me of this, dunno why... I'm confused. There's two drum sets, but only one drummer. One of the guitarists is wearing a doubleneck, but only playing the bottom neck. And they keep switching guitars every few seconds. It's magic, I tell you! Magic! They're multi-instrumentalists! Oh, wait, maybe not . . .

Well, reminds me of this, dunno why... For every Stryper, there's a Steel Panther. It's the Yin-Yang thing at work:

... maybe there will be a KillerBee: better shockmount, better case and a Thiersch capsule for $1,000 more. How about the QueenBee with a yellow and black body and a hot pink grill! Why did they name it the King Bee rather than the Queen Bee is the real question...

Hard to believe a company like Gibson would invest this much in a product that looks like a play school toy!

At NAMM they are displayed behind a glass box. I guess Gibson didn't want anyone to hear them?

I think whoever designed these has been watching the Transformers movie box set a little too much. They are even uglier as a team.
