i just got back from the depot where i picked up 6/32, 8/32 tap, mounting nutz/screws for pcb, binder, xlr, iec, and some rubber feet for the case as well.

for a little perspective re: cost/value if you have $2,500 usd you can grab a nos unopened original 47 tube ; yes just the tube! www.ebay.ca/itm/181622502861And this isn't even the "m" version. So expect it to be unusable for mics. Find at least a dozen of them and select.  Yepp, ridiculous. |

One thing bout neumann tubes, back in the day as they sorted the "m" grade from the chaff and then returned the unusable to their supplier, neumann became suspicions that these same tubes were being sent back to them unannounced So, they started marking the tubes, sure enough they were being re-supplied to neumann Guess the supllier didn't think neumann's qc was that good; how do you say "tough beans" in german anyway ? |

(I had to look up, what "tough shit", "tough beans" means...i learn something every day i read here ;-))
I guess they got their Telefunken VF14 from Röhrenwerk Berlin (RöW Bln) directly. QC is always a cost factor, and surely, when dealing b2b, management tries to shift manhours to the partner or more or less secretly observe the business partners practices...
Same until today....

Btw if you haven't had the diy pleasure of working with one of Dan's cases: don't wait order one quick: they are rock solid and very well fabricated !

Nice build: the 3 pin xlr should be there and i thought switch was listed in notes at bottom of zayance bom. I remember we had trouble emailing it maybe it got caught off ?

Well, if it doesn't sound good on me, I will!. That's not saying the mic wouldn't sound good, but hey, if it doesn't fit my voice, then it wouldn't serve much purpose...Can't wait to hear it, though...Cowboy has convinced me that it's exceptional.

haven't busted any significant moves on this in the last few days, i've been busy with some lame stuff like work 8)
I plan on doing more this weekend for sure, I have one other pressing project i'm trying to wrap up.

looks amazing..... any files? hey man, welcome to the forum, no files yet, i will post some after i break and dial the mic in though, i just received a part i needed from JK today, i will hopefully get the psu done in the next couple days, then it's on to the mic, which if i know me will go quick because i get way more excited to finish that kind of thing vs an unsexy psu lol |
