Punk rockers eat you phony little hearts out! Robert Plant has just proven that he considers the Led Zeppelin legacy as the greatest Rock band of all time more important than all the $ in the world...literally! I love this! www.cnn.com/2014/11/10/showbiz/music/robert-plant-turns-down-zeppelin-reunion-800-million/although i would have gone and seen the show for sure.., they could have gotten show promotion form AARP and craft matic adjustable beds/ in conjunction with the makers of "ensure" present... "The mighty Led Zeppelin!", I love me some Zep!!

I saw that...Now THAT'S rock and roll...
Or a serious sign that Jimmy Page is an asshole.

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time, and I'd love to see them get together. But if Plant doesn't think he would enjoy it, then why bother? I think it's easy to say no to a big wad of money when you've already got more than you could ever possibly need.

I think that may be what Robert doesn't like about the idea? If you watch the 02 arena show from 2007, Jason did a decent job, but in addition to Jason's lack of sheer musical command that his Dad had, when they played dazed and confuzed, jason got lost, all 3 guys were looking at him, and he was off in neverland lol, John Bonham was deep in the music, and drove the bus as if on fire, and swung like a motha, a mega musician! Jason, mehh...not so much IMV. The original magic cannot be re created without John Henry Bonham, Robert knows it, and to him, the last cookie legacy is more important than the money, good for him!

I was actually at the O2 Led Zep show, right in front. It was a cool ride, even sans Bonham. I heard Grohl was begging to sit in for that gig.

I agree. A few years ago I saw the Who in Toronto with drummer Zak Starkey (Ringo's kid). He was amazing! Honestly, I can't say he was as good as Keith Moon, but he was good enough that Moon was not missed. I would really enjoy hearing a Page-Plant-Starkey collaboration.

There's no way this is legitimate. Even Branson doesn't have that much scratch to throw away.

There's no way this is legitimate. Even Branson doesn't have that much scratch to throw away. that tour would gross a ton of $, the 2007 02 arena show was fetching as much as $175,000 for a ticket! i heard that anyway?

I have a feeling Mr. Branson would have thought of ways to recover his investment and a lot more besides. I think he really is a Led Zep fan, but I don't think that would be enough to suddenly turn him into a dumb businessman. If this was a legitimate offer, that is.

I saw Led Zeppelin in 1973 and as much as I would love to see them again 42 years later, I respect Plant's decision and understand his reasoning. This guy is not about money, he's got ethics and that's extremely rare these days. I understand that, as an artist, he doesn't see much value in playing the same old stuff over and over again. Plant is all about musical growth and exploring new musical territories, that's what makes an artist great. BTW, the Beatles also rejected a lot of money for a reunion...

Why are Zep fans so quick to dismiss JASON Bonham? The man naturally, without even trying, plays so much like John it's ridiculous! Jason is the natural heir to the throne and Page/Plant/Jones with Jason Bonham is completely legit.
But I am really happy Plant knows when to give it up and let the legacy rest in peace, as opposed to digging it up and putting the corpse on display.

I saw Led Zeppelin at the Los Angeles Forum on their "Whole Lotta Love Tour" I think the tickets were like $10 dollar or there abouts. The memories are worth a million.

I guess the problem is that Page lives and breathes Led Zeppelin and Plant doesn't.
I totally dig Jason as a drummer, he's amazing and agree he was totally legit in Led Zeppelin.

I think Jason is cool, but Nothing like john, he's a solid average drummer IMO, but he doesn't swing in the least, his dad was the king of swing, he couldn't NOT swing even when he tried, listen to the end of Kashmir when his ghosting swing thing pokes it's head out, it ran though him, it's what made Bonzo one of a kind, and it's also the reason why the remaining members knew it was over when he passed.

I've heard a very interesting story about Page holding on to and acting like he is everything that had to do with Zep. I can't tell the story because I don't want any drama for the guy who told me but all I can say is he needs to let it go a little. Sad

The story smacks of rock and roll excess to the point of non-believability. Dig deeper and you find the real answer.
Plant can no longer sing, plain and simple. He would so embarrass himself attempting to squeak out those high notes he would be booed like an underperforming sports team.
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

This guy is not about money, he's got ethics and that's extremely rare these days. You mean after they plagiarized everyone else's music, and made a fortune with it, NOW they have ethics? Lol...sorry...I just wanted to be a salty old bastard for a moment! Reminded me of a shirt I got my friend's kid... "Now that I'm out, I'm pro-choice." Anyway - in their peak, Zep wasn't able to pull off live the way they sounded on the album. I'd hate to hear what they'd sound like now!

Plagiarized, yes, made the music about 997 times better than the originals, yes. There are moments on the first album that I still can't listen to without tears welling up, I just find the music so incredibly emotional. Because of that, I forgive them their transgressions, and I'm probably a saltier and older bastard.
As for not sounding live as good as on an album, I've never seen anybody who could do that. My favorite shows that I've seen, including Hendrix, Johnny Winter, the Doors, the Who, and Joe Satriani were amazing, but not even close to the quality of their albums.

it was a different time, all the bands covered music, shifted arrangements around and called them their own, this has been talked about ad nauseum. If the words to whole lotta love, and when the levee breaks were changed, no one would have had a clue that they were covers, also, no one would have known the songs even existed, i think they used the lyrics as a showing of respect for their fav music.
listen to this, if you don't like it?...fine, if you don't "get it", then there is nothing more to say.
