I've heard a very interesting story about Page holding on to and acting like he is everything that had to do with Zep. I can't tell the story because I don't want any drama for the guy who told me but all I can say is he needs to let it go a little. Sad I think Page misses being a rock star. Plant just wants to keep following his muse and make new music. Most of what he's done has been pretty good, IMO. Met him in a bar - I'm guessing 89 or 90? No entourage, no attitude, signing autographs etc. Good bloke. I absolutely think he made the right decision not resurrecting the dinosaur of LZ. Plant can't hit the notes - and knows it. But he also isn't the least bit interested in living in the past - been there, done that, and they could never hit the heights they did back in the day. Why tarnish the legacy? They pulled it off for the O2 show mostly. So why risk a lacklustre tour? Even if it made them more money in three months than they did during the whole time the Zep was active. And let's face it - Percy isn't the only who can't bring it like they could. Page isn't the Page of the early 70s, Jason can't hold a candle to his dad. Maybe JPJ has kept his chops up, but other than a way to hoover up money, it could only detract from their legacy. Plant's the only one of the survivors who stood up for that. JPJ? Maybe somewhere in the middle? But he's put out more quality stuff than Pagey has since the mighty Zep broke up. But he still wanted to do the nostalgia lap. As for Jason? Damn good drummer - wouldn't you want him in your band? But, he isn't his dad. Not even close. That's how I see it. Cheers, Geoff

I have a feeling Mr. Branson would have thought of ways to recover his investment and a lot more besides. I think he really is a Led Zep fan, but I don't think that would be enough to suddenly turn him into a dumb businessman. If this was a legitimate offer, that is. Yes, like read the actual contract much closer like Plant's team did and see how many shows the band was required to perform, and how many albums of the reunion tour they had to reach sales wise, and touring expenses that had to be offset. As usual the number is bull shit, but more importantly as others have suggested too much risk versus reward. Not everything is about money and Islam.

I saw that...Now THAT'S rock and roll... Or a serious sign that Jimmy Page is an asshole. I don't blame the guy at all. Besides, this is such an opportunity for people to critique the hell out of the band 40 years past their heyday prime. They would rock just the same but RP's voice won't sound the same and so many people will initially whine about that as well as whatever else they can find 'wrong'. Besides, I wonder if the guy is just done with it. His recent Band of Joy albums and the project with Alison Krauss were some really spectacular tracks and live performances. Has anyone seen/heard the performances he did with the Sensational Space Shifters?! Let the man explore and experiment and move on into a ton of other cool things we have yet to hear. He totally deserves to do so and has played those Zep songs till he's blue in the face and sick of them. Any idea how many times that guy has been expected to sing/play the stairway song? Sheesh! It's his turn to say, no 'thank you' and I get it. Rock on Mr Plant!<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/ea13ed7b/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Apparently there may not be any truth to the rumour. Both Plant and Branson are saying it's a complete fabrication.
Regardless, whatever the true number was, and whether it was Branson or not, I'm willing to bet it contained a whole lotta, um, zeroes.
Cheers, Geoff

hmmm it doesn't add up. but there could be so many reasons why. I don't know if this is believable, but I have actually known Jimmy Page's son in my own lifetime. Strange, but true. Led Zeppelin is larger than life, and probably always will be. My DAD said, probably bigger than the Beatles. Hard to imagine, but they are that massive. Now that's a Plant I'd like to smoke or grow.

When he chooses to play Zep songs, not when someone else does. <script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/900af8bc/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Hell, I play a zeppelin song every freaking day. Over the hills and far away is Kind've my standard hack job attempt every time I pick up a guitar. And I perform it for free

Man I'll trade him jobs? He can look after and care for a disabled person for $100 bucks a day and I'll go play guitar for all those zeroes I won't make in ten lifetimes. What an asshole.
