You should call it "Window" and the front panel should be lucite... I often though that would be a cool look, but i think it would introduce unshielded issues? svart knows for sure.

Having nothing but plastic between the world and the circuitry isn't necessarily a shielding issue, but it could be, and would certainly warrant more testing to make sure it passes FCC 15 part B with a good margin, and also make sure that it's not getting too much noise ingress from the outside world. Also, an interesting aside, sometimes in the RF world I have to watch out for "holes" in the chassis. They have to be carefully thought out because long slots and things can resonate at certain frequencies sometimes, when stimulated with RF egress! Almost like a crystal wine glass will "sing" when you run your finger around the edge at the right speed/pressure. Not to worry though, audio frequencies are much too low to do this.

I'll have it here and maybe I'll post some comparison files with the the Burl... That would be wonderful, I would really appreciate it!

Svart, maybe I missed it somewhere along this incredible journey of a thread, but did you discuss putting input meters on the ADC for incoming levels? Is that just for transformer boxes? Like on the Burl and Lavry AD10? I have to do more research on converters. The way we have our studio setup is an analog board w/Apogee 16X converters, Apogee Symphony system Thunderbridge I/O ProTools. Then just Masterbuss out through(ADC/2-track computer;CD recorder/DAC return to board) Speakers on monitor outs console, or speakers on DAC? I am just wanting to get this setup the best way possible. I want to start a thread on the studio once we break ground. We are building a studio inside a barn in the coming weeks. We are still working on room design details, debating whether or not to put a rod iron spiral staircase to an iso booth looking over the live room. Crazy talk stuff before we get started, or just procrastinating a little longer looking at the hard work that will be involved outside our busy family and work schedules. I checked out your studio, very sharp looking place! I am also very interested in your converters, still researching and reading...

I just hope with John's boiling-hot recording room and his software problems, he can give it a fair assessment!

So I've ordered the plastic bezels. I have yet to hear back from the machine shop I've chosen, so I don't have much information other than about 20 days of lead time and I'll still need to paint them.

Maybe you've said this, but do you have a conceptual pic of what it's going to look like? Color?

Maybe you've said this, but do you have a conceptual pic of what it's going to look like? Color? It will be brushed aluminum with a white plastic bezel on the front. This is a render of the plastic bezel.

i wish i'd paid attention to this thread. i made a transport control out of an arduino and game controller arduino shield. it's really efficient, tho ugly lol. i could've helped ya out with the arduino programming.

Maybe on the next one! I learned a lot that I can apply to my daily work when I interface with the firmware engineers here. Arduino makes things super easy, I like it a lot.
