i have and use melda autoalign. works great. Thanx, I checked that out, price is right! on sale for $24 I'd be interested to hear opinions of people who have used all these aligners for live drums, i have and still do it by hand and ear, I would love to eliminate it from my workflow as it takes a lot of time and the nagging feeling of "did i nail that?" remains even when i'm done

It also works really well for multi-miked piano. And finally I use it for scenarios where I've got a vocalist playing over an instrument like guitar or piano as well. So... sounds great on drums for sure. And for setting up a vocal mic and a guitar mic it does something I can't do which is to fix time and phase. The result is I just throw up a couple of mics and just focus on how the mics sound. I still do my best to account for phase alignment but no longer obsess over it. I get it "good enough" and then put AutoAlign on there and it sounds great. This is just a MUCH better experience for the poor soul sitting on a stool while I crouch around them moving mics. And it's invaluable for recording myself.

I don't like the Melda one, and I am generally a big advocate of their stuff. Their phase one just doesn't ever seem to work quite right.
Auto Align gives better results every time, IME.

Been using Auto Align for years, but never loved it on drums. Demo’d Auto Align 2 and didn’t really like it any better than the original, so didn’t buy. I kinda wanna try it (AA2) again though.

Auto Align gives better results every time, IME. really? i always get better phase results on drums than doing it manually. and i also use it on multi miked bass/guitaramps and pianos: always an improvement. before buying it i demoed it and auto align. both gave really similar results. sometimes on melda i click analyze a few times as it does not always give the same result. but i like it.

Brother, I was going to make the exact same thread.
I want Auto-Align as well, but it's too damn expensive.
I know there are some new plugins in town for this job as well.
Like Fuser from Mastering the Mix and another one that I saw this past week, but can't for the life of me remember the name right now.

I've been using Mautoalign and SR Auto Align 2 for the past month and have tested both on many projects where drums needed to be realigned. SR Auto Align 2 consistently gave a much better result with more accurate/punchy transients. Mautoalign worked once or twice but most of the time it was way below par. I'll have to wait for the SR to come in, although right now Mautoalign is $22 on Audiodeluxe, I don't think I'll buy it.

Yes, but it does the phase align thing as well. There's one knob there that aligns things routed to the side chain. I've seeing some saying it's pretty good.

Oh the new iZotope Neutron was the other phase alignment plugin I was trying to remember.
I would like to know how it compares to Sound Radix Auto Align 2.

Doesn’t do the “automatic” thing across multiple sources that AA do. It’s basically just an all pass filter. Useful, but definitely requires more consideration and listening experience in use.

I mean, it will align 2 sources at one time, but you can leave the master untouched and align the others one by one. Apart of the better workflow for more than 2 sources on AA, what else is so different and better?

Auto Algin 2 is great. BUT you NEED to read the manual. It does NOT work like the original one and if you use it wrong it...well sounds wrong.
Autoalign 1 is easier to use.
Autoalign 2 is better but you have to learn how it works. It's "easy" but can be used wrong easily too.

I'm a big fan of Sound Radix Auto Align (1)
I can see how Auto Align 2 would be good, but it's not there yet for me - I want more customisation options like 1 has, as I key certain mics of other certain mics

Haha… It’s really good, but I only need to use it once in a blue moon. Every freaking time I pull it up, it takes me 30 minutes to figure it out again 😂. I don’t even think I installed it when I got my new computer last year. I feel your pain…
